The Required App is Horrible

I can't truly rate the smoker itself. It is not functioning properly due to the app required to run it. And it won't run without the app. Please read the reviews about this app on the App Store. I hope Char-Broil can fix this, it would be a great smoker if the app worked. Again, read the reviews on the App Store!

One of the most frustrating pieces of equipment I've bought in my life. It took 3 hours on Friday to get it setup through tons of running back and forth to press the DADO button. Finally it just magically started working. Cooked a turkey with it this morning, went through the steps, pulled it out when it said it was done with the warming. Looked pretty tasty. Until I cut into it, about halfway through the breast was pink. Ok, maybe my fault, never cooked a turkey before. Replaced the probe back into the turkey a little deeper this time. Dropped it back in the smoker, went through the setup again. This time it says the probe isn't plugged in. Hmm... double checked, yup, plugged it in. Unplugged and replugged. No probe is detected. Odd. All of a sudden, it's lost connection to my network after being connected no problem. I work with wireless networks as part of my job, whip out my wifi tools, everything is good. Cannot for the life of me connect to the DADO for more then a second before the whole thing restarts itself, unplugged, replugged, off, on, for over an hour I have had a half cooked turkey sitting there with an smoker that doesn't work. Google it, nobody else seems to have this problem I can find. Call the number listed on this site, sorry, closed on Sundays. Worst product and support I've ever seen.

app does not work-- smoker doesnt work without app

I wish I had never purchased it. So much time and energy expended trying to sync phone app and smoker Never would sync on 3 different phones Does not work without app in preset mode just stops doesnt cook long enough

Not what I expected

I received this from my kids for Father's Day. I've smoked a whole chicken, a pork tenderloin, and a pork butt. My problem with it is that it does not light off completely dry chips. No chips burning = No smoke. I am a little disappointed in this smoker. I've wanted one for a long time.

Love this Smoker!

Have wanted a smoker for a while and got this for myself for Xmas. I love it! Very easy to use and the smoked foods come out great! So far I've smoked a pork butt, brisket, prime rib, and whole chicken. Going to smoke some ribs tomorrow. I've seen complaints/negative notes about the SmartChef app but I think its easy to use and quite valuable. I do look forward to having more recipes added.

I bought this about 3 weeks ago. Wanted to get into smoking. Did my first chicken last night with Maple chips. The chicken was awesome. Made a place for the smoker next to outlet and not far away from wifi.
I would recommend this to a friend!
