Better air control for better temperature control

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few weeks ago and finally got this thing fired up. It has two vents on the bottom and two vents on the top for better temperature control. Also has an adjustable rack that can bring coals closer (or farther away) to the cooking rack.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing cooking! But the screws are too soft.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to start with the positive. My wife told me the steaks were above restaurant grade. So, yes. Amazing steaks! I love how I can control temperature with the hand crank. However during construction, I was a bit frustrated with how easily the screws stripped and how the nuts weren't threaded properly.
But! Once assembled, it was a thing of beauty. I love the adjustable heat tray!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Contrary to its name, the 580 does not have 580 square inches of grilling space. It has about 400 inches. The remaining 180 sq inches is a rack for warming. If you read the fine print, you will find this out, but Char-Broil does not make it obvious. I bought this to replace a previous Char-Broil grill that did have 580 sq inches of grill space. Char-Broil would not take the product back, so be sure it is big enough to meet your needs before you buy!

Fails quickly.

After having this grill for about one year, the charcoal pan rusted through. Good luck.

Poor design. The lid needs to be held open with one hand and pulls off the cooking rack if opened too far. The design makes it difficult to fit a charcoal chimney.

Poor Quality Grill

We are very disappointed with our grill. First one screws were missing and had to return to the store. The second one after assembly used once and the paint peeled off the lid. So disappointed.

Finally in stock, the 580 has everything that we were missing in the char broil infrared kettle grill (itself an excellent grill that lasted us 6 years before the grates started rusting out) - side tables, adjustable charcoal level, larger cook area and an upper level cooking grate (mainly for bread). Char broil has thus far been the best charcoal grills we have used. We grill on a weekly basis, live in south Florida and the grill remains outside year round. Great materials, durability and grilling experience - highly recommend!!

Plenty of grill space. Well made. I've had mine for 6 years now. I keep a cover on it when not in use and store it in the garage in winter and it has held up great. Totally recommend it. Like anything else, if you take care of it, it will last a long time.
