Beautiful Bag, But Wretched Odor

We purchased a total of 7 American Tourister Luggage pieces for a family vacation. Almost everybody got a new bag. The smell from single every bag is WRETCHED. Nauseating, to say the least. It is something like plastic, chemicals and a shoe store all in a 28" roller bag space. We have tried vinegar, lemon juice, leaving them in the open air outside for 2 days, Febreeze, charcoal, baking soda, coffee grounds and an odor neutralizer and absolutely nothing has worked. And, whatever room in the house I put them in now smells like that as well. We leave in a few days and this is the only luggage all of us have as this was meant for this trip. Exchanging it makes the most sense, but after searching the web I see this is pretty common with American Tourister luggage. I am so disappointed. I purchased both styles od the Minnie bag for myself and now if I put my clothes in them they will also have that horrible chemical smell. As this is the only bag I have and I need to pack Saturday, I guess I will have to invest in a crazy amount of ziploc bags to protect my clothes from that odor. The bags are beautiful and the quality is good, but the smell is something I simply cannot get past.

Cons: Horrible Odor

Will use this large piece of luggage for longer vacations because it has a large capacity and extra pockets/zippers for additional storage. It's also lightweight considering the size.

I am concerned it is too large for most airlines. It was advertised as 28" but it measures 29". I will not be able to use the "expandable" portion of it as that will make it too large and too heavy for any airline. Haven't decided if I will keep it.

Very decent and standard luggage. Lightweight and easily identify. Minor issue with the clip (on the internal elastic which holds the contents together) It's a bit hard to release. Another thing that I really dislike is why isn't it a TSA luggage??
