I have two of these units and use them all winter.
I don't get static electric shocks when petting my dog and everyone breathes easier with the added humidity. they need to be refilled three times a day and must be cleaned weekly as my well water contains a lot of minerals

I found these on sale and actually bought two. Since I received them, I've slept with one on in my bedroom nearly every night. Using this humidifier has made a huge difference in my allergies (the reason for purchasing), as well as the condition of my skin. Prior to purchase, the inside of my nose was painfully dry and nothing helped, which was awful in combination with my allergies.
It's very basic, and not difficult to clean at all. Waiting for it to cool so you can wipe it down is as bad as it gets, other than that you just pop the base into the dishwasher and you're good to go. As far as noise, it makes fairly quiet gurgling/steaming sounds - I like a bit of white noise so this is a bonus to me. There are two settings - the high setting can sometimes drain the reservoir faster than the listed 8 hour working time, but I believe it has an auto shut off when the tank is empty. I use the high setting when I'm asleep, and the low setting for the rest of the day. I feel this helps maintain a reasonable level of humidity for me. So far I have had no troubles.

Bad Product....Overheated!!!

I bought my product last year to help with my son who has asthma due to colds.
When we started up again this year, it didn't seem to be working that well. Then one night around 7pm, it started to overheat! The heater melted the bottom of the machine and the result was a white plastic smelling smoke! Luckily we were home and discovered it, unplugged it and removed it from the house. I can only imagine if we were not home, or if it happened in the middle of the night and the fire it could have caused! I do not recommend this product!

Didnt last very long

Got this model after another model stoped working.. used for a month at the end of last winter and started to use it the other day... turned it on today and smelled something electrical burning shortly after. Now its in the trash
Have had Multiple units lasting less then a year.time to find another brand. Not worth my time, money or risking my house burning down.
They do work ok and are easy to fill.. but dont last very long
