Very solid, sensible blender.

We recently tried out this blender around our house. Honestly, I'm not that big in to kitchen work, but my wife does occasionally make smoothies. When we got the blender the first thing I noticed was how nice the item looks. It's a very nice look, not cheap as I had somewhat expected. The blender works well and does the job you'd expect without problems. I feel there is enough power to handle heavier projects than smoothies, but we didn't give it a big workout. We did receive the blender as a sample to try out, but I would have no problem purchasing the item for our kitchen. The good job combined with the good look would make this a no brainer. To me, this is a more sensible option compared to some of the high end blenders on the market today.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Food Processing Jar is not sturdy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this blender for more than 2 years .I am pretty happy with overall performance.However the food processing jar is not sturdy.I have already replaced it once as the base of that got broken and all the parts came out. Now for the new one I am not able to close the lid all of a sudden,I think the base is stuck.(I have used it for past 6 months)and I am not able to find a place to buy replacement jar .
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great blender. Ok food processor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed using this blender. It's quick, effective, and really durable. I used the blender portion for my morning smoothies and when I needed to pulverize some fruit to make homemade fruit leather. I live how sturdy the glass blender is. Plus it's sleek-looking and doesn't take up a ton of space. I also used the food processor portion, but was less impressed. The food processor is plastic and feels cheap compared to the blender portion. I tried to make a cream cheese based dip in it (which I can do in a normal food processor) but it couldn't handle it. My dip was left with lumps.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Do not buy if you want a food processor

We have an oster blender that was given to us as a wedding present nearly 50 years ago and the motor is still working like a champ. We replaced the jar years ago when the glass jar was accidentally broken, so we purchased this model just for the food processor attachment thinking that the quality would be similar.
Big mistake. The food processor replacement lasted only 6 months before the drive spindle bound up and one of the plastic ears on the lid broke. In short, I would put it in the category of junk quality. When new, it does work as designed and does a fine job, but the way that the drive shaft is designed, it cannot remain clear of liquids and gradually stiffens up and becomes useless.
On the good side, Oster stands behind the product and shipped me a new one. But I don't think that Oster will continue to do that after the 1 year warranty period.
So the blender part is a great buy, but the food processor is a waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this via the Oster web-site to make smoothies and milkshakes an occasionally crush ice.
It has not functioned as I had hoped. It takes long to even begin to make the smoothy. Probably will burn the motor out before long. Looking for another brand in hopes it will work more effectively.

glass broke during ice crushing

Luckily this was on the counter and not the island. When I turned on the blender to crush ice, the whole back blew out! I am not sure if I want to replace the glass at this time.

I bought this 4 years ago I'm still working like nothing I use this every days I make my protein shakes I blend a lot of food ice you name it the only part I have to replace is the stainless steel blade strongly recommend this to everyone that looks for a real quality blender
