Very poor quality of cartride load mechanism

Good printer but completely broke when I tried to add the new toners. The build is very poor. It would not let me extract the toner carrries and when I finally di it all fell apart in from t of me. I would not recommend this to anyone A waste of money as its obviously is designed to just be used until the toner runs out and then to be dumped. I thought HP was better than this

Entry level low usage laser printer
on July 6, 2016

Bought this printer to replace an old inkjet model and save on cost of replacement ink cartridges. cost me same price as two sets of ink for old printer and can print 3 times more before replacing cartridge without worrying about ink drying out when not used for a while. Print quality is a definite improvement over old machine, haven't noticed any fading or running of colours that could happen with inkjet printouts.
This printer would suite light usage only (think up to 50 pages a month in normal usage) cartridges supplied are low volume and expensive to replace giving around 1200 pages per toner (400 pages with supplied colour toners) so would suggest a more expensive printer is likely to cost less in long run when adding replacement toner into equation for higher volume users. Cost of cartridges is reason I can't give this a five star review.
While toner mechanism is definitely on the less robust side to that found in higher end models did not notice any of the issues installing toner cartridges mentioned by a previous review.

Too Smart
on September 30, 2016

This printer provides high quality print but is the most frustrating printer I have ever worked with. Almost half of all documents i try to print can't because it says the file is corrupt. i think it is great that it is that smart but i am a small business and can't tell you how frustrating it is to be in a hurry and heading out the door because my printer won't print a 1 page document it says is corrupt. i would never buy this product again and would warn any small business to stay away. HP is great for home products but this expensive printer is a waste of money and very frustrating to try and work with.

Great value

I bought this printer to replace a much larger colour unit. It performs better than the bigger machine, and is economical on consumables. The set up was fairly straight-forward. I occasionally have some problems printing double-sided, but I reckon this may be a software problem on my Mac.

Does what it says on the box
on November 10, 2016

This printer replaces a 22 year old HP LaserJet that has given sterling service and I expect no less from this one. The printer is easy to use and does what it says on the box though the wireless function refused to function with my bog standard router. It was otherwise easy to set up though only after getting a copy of the instructions in English to replace the Russian one which was packed. An annoying mistake as I had to cart it back to the seller because I was worried that it would be subject to HP's iniquitous "regionalisation" policy which might have blocked UK toner cartridges. (If you don't know about it, check it out because they won't tell you). Similarly, the "gift" from online registration was an unnecessary insult - 5% off online purchases VALID FOR 10 DAYS. And, of course, a set of cartridges cost almost as much as the printer - not unexpected. Despite the above, it is good value for money and quality of print is good.

Great Machine - quiet, fast and reliable

I bought this to replace an ageing HP laser jet, which was a real workhorse, but B&W and single sided only. This replaced a colour inkjet and a B&W laser. It was extremely simple to install and network - just plugged it in! It is quiet, fast and the print quality is excellent. So far the toner seems to last week, and refills seem to be cheaper from what I have seen. A great machine!

This printer is perfect for my requirements which are generally light. Does everything it is meant to perfectly. Also it is very easy to setup. Only downside is that the printer refills are quite expensive but that is quite usual for good value printers.
