I want to love this fan

I'm on my 3rd exchange of this fan and it's now locked on high all the time. The first one arrived broken but worked just made a horrible loud squeaking sound. So the great customer service sent me a replacement for fan number two. This one looked in perfect condition! I was pumped. Plug it in and the top part of the fan was not attached and it wobbles all over the place. Email customer service and they send the 3rd fan which worked perfectly for about a year. Now the fan is stuck on high. To be continued...

Absolutely Wonderful Fan, Close to a Perfect Tower

I absolutely love this fan. It has enough power to circulate air quietly and calmly at approximately 56% in a 700 sq ft. room. At full power, it has enough to really just suck smoke out or any quick ventilation needs. It has the versatility of a fan and a ventilator / circulator. The detachable grill really lets you clean the squirrel cage / fan blades well. Not sure why this wasn't marketed further, but the DC models are a lot better than the AC versions because it virtually eliminates the induction vibration that comes with AC motors. At higher powers, you get more of a gentle whirring that sounds like somebody is mowing grass 10 doors down while all your doors & windows are closed. (Very quiet and mildly pleasant). To me, I absolutely love that sound as it reminds me of a wonderful Sunday morning that I can no longer have in an Urban jungle. So, why not perfect 5/5? The issue here is that there's a bearing that hisses at the top. It's a standard bearing hiss that one can expect with metal parts, but if you were to poke the fan and tilt it 15 degrees to one side, the hiss literally vanishes. I mean, it's magically gone. This makes me think that perhaps the mold / precision of parts is just slightly off that causes the freestanding structure to mis-align slightly. Maybe my bearings need some time to break in / spread the lubricant after what may be some shelf time. In any case, it has more power than a Dyson, easier to clean than a Dyson, stronger than a Honeywell Quietset (Honewell's bearings are slightly quieter), and to me seems like it would last a LOT longer than a standard Wal-mart fan. On top of this, my wife truly hopes that the fan could have had a black stand instead of silver since we have light coloured floors. As a large room ventilator fan, I would whole-heartedly recommend this. The better ventilation has truly made the place more liveable, given us more energy, and makes the place feel a whole lot cleaner / better.

Cons: Slight Bearing Hiss "goes away" at 15 Deg Tilt

I did alot of looking and Googling to find the right tower. Alot of them say they are air blasters but when you look at the CFM, they aren't that great. This DC tower really is the best out there. High CFM for a tower and QUIET even at the highest speeds. I love how you can control the speed 0-99! I feel good about using it since it's using less energy than most. IF I could change one thing it would be to have the intake directly behind the unit instead of the side of it. I did have it get stuck on high (after a power outtage) but I unplugged the unit for a minute or so and plugged it back in and that seemed to reset the unit. I hope that is all I need to do about that but with a 10 year warranty, I'm not concerned. Thanks Vornado!

Hands down best fan I've ever owned. It can create a nice quiet beach breeze or a wall of wind thats still surprisingly quiet for the amount of wind it moves. I did have one get stuck on high like previous reviews but vornado very quickly replaced it. I am going on a few years and I use this fan everyday. The 99 speed setting is bar none. I'm looking at purchasing a new vornado either window fan or oscillating tower but im so spoiled with the 99 speed setting now I can't pull the trigger until it becomes available on those as well.

I recieved this fan as a gift and was mostly surprised considering the cost. I'm a fan guy, I've used them all and vornado has always been there outlasting them all. until present day! I mean what is with all the smart technology being implemented on everything? why can't a fan just be a fan ? or a coffee pot just make coffee? 99 speeds on this silly contraption Is insanity! now it's stuck on high speed. a simple 4 speed switch wouldn't do that. doesn't seem all that smart now!

I own several vornado oscillator fans. They have been great. However, this SMART fan, that I was excited to order, came broken on the back grille. It shook violently when plugged in. The plastic felt cheap, and the base unstable. Not what I ever expected from a vornado.

Great... until it became stuck on high

Used this in our bedroom. Kept the speed around 50. After about 3 weeks the fan became stuck on high. Had to return it and didn't trust another one as this is a common problem.
Pros: Good Power Output, Quiet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in a hot climate, so I would use the Vornado during the summer and fall mornings to put next to my window in the living room to bring in the cool morning air. Not only will this air the house out, but it will help me keep my house cooler during the day. I have had room fans before, but the Vornado is a little bit different. On the one hand, the Vornado is quieter, more powerful, has precise 00-100 fan levels, and has vents that either concentrate the air or disperse the air, unlike other tower fans I have owned before. On the other hand, the Vornado does not rotate back and forth or measure temperature like the tower fans I have owned before. Yes, I would buy the Vornado for my home and/or for a gift for family members, and would also recommend it to them. Althought I had never heard of the Vornado before, I can tell that it is a great product and I can tell that it is a quality product, especially since it has a 10-year guarantee.
Pros: Compact, Good Power Output, Lightweight, Quiet, Sleek, Stable Base
I would recommend this to a friend!
