I've had the tab 2 for a little over a year now, and, considering it's age and price, it's still a fairly decent alternative to more expensive machines. Though, in today's market, I would definitely look for more power/speed and one with a better camera.
My main use for my Tab 2 is reading and streaming video.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This tablet can withstand the wrath of my 2 kids, yet it looks great and I can use it for all of my personal stuff. I take it practically everywhere with me. My only problem is that my cord/battery started malfunctioning about 2 months ago, however Samsung was very understanding and they paid for me to ship it back to them for servicing, and they also replaced the cord, free of charge for parts and labor.

I didn't really expect much since this tablet isn't the latest one that Samsung is selling. But for the price, you get your tablet that has pretty much everything you expect from the features to the performance.
One of the only things I didn't like about my galaxy tab was that it wasn't universally charged. So when I forgot my charger and no one had the same tablet as I did, then I wouldn't be able to continually use the tablet. In addition, it's battery life wasn't all that great but I was still happy to be able to do so much on it!
I read my books, watched my videos, played games, and surfed the internet easily. Overall, this was definitely a good buy but in the future, I'd consider buying a higher end tablet from Samsung.

Looked at them in stores, but we actually won this product from a prize drawing. Worked wonderfully for a few months and then the software started to mess up, now I have to send in to get fixed. Couldn't register because I didn't receive a receipt. Thankfully Samsung can look up the serial number and noticed it was still under warranty because of the date it was made.

Cons: major software issues

enjoyed the ease of operating this tablet. my unit was mostly used as a e-reader and to read the digital issues of local newspapers. about a year after the warranty was up the tablet would not connect to the internet. the cost to repair it was half the price of the tablet. disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
