I installed the disposal today. It is light weight and fairly easy to install. It is quiet when operating. The metal flange for in the sink is not concave, but flat. This keeps the water from draining completely. The is always a 1/4 inch of liquid remaining around the outside of the flange. The flange may fit better on newer or metal sinks. A clamp on the electrical cord inside the bottom compartment would provide additional protection against the electrical connection from coming apart. No way to unclog a jammed motor. some disposals have an Allen wrench to manually rotate the grinders.

I PURCHASED THIS DISPOSALL OVER THE WEEKEND AND JUST HAD IT INSTALLED. THE INSTALLATION WAS EASY AND IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT 20 MIN.

So Quiet!

My last GE Disposall came with my new construction home, which I purchased in 2001. 13 years later, I was finally able to renovate my kitchen and it made sense to just buy a new disposal. I was very pleased the longevity of the original 1/3 HP Disposall, so I decided to stick with GE and just leap up to 1/2 HP. I can't believe how quiet this thing is (the last one was so loud that my next door neighbors (town home) knew when I was running it). I am very pleased so far and I hope it lasts as long as its predecessor.
