Quality is so-so

Generally, the unit is fine and what was expected. But the water dispenser drips after it shuts off and it discharged a screw from the ice cube dispenser on day 4 of ownership. The screw probably got left in the ice cube maker during assembly. I don't anticipate it being a problem in the future (I hope). The freezer drawer is a bit noisy and loose.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Adequate refrigerator

As refrigerators go, this GE model is adequate. The controls on the front for the water, ice, temperature, etc. are nearly impossible to read without a flashlight. The only illumination is the a bar that indicates the selection. You have to learn the location on the panel because you cannot read "water", "cubed ice", "crushed ice". The lighting inside isn't great, especially if there is a lot on the shelves. The icemaker is startling loud when dumping ice. I will say, however, compared to my last refrigerator (not a GE) the ice maker (so far) does not jam or require constant manipulation to get the cubes to come out. The true test for this model will be 15 years from now. Is it still working or in the landfill?
