We bought a GE because all our kitchen appliances are, this is an OK unit, but no place for butter, what’s with that? Maybe we needed a bigger unit.

Only6 weeks old and ice maker not working!!!

The repairman said it had a mfg defect. A connection was not installed correctly. He said give it 24 hours? to make ice? Have not heard any ice drop and it's been6 hours since he left!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Noise

My old GE Profile had no issues with noise and looked loke new still when the compressor blew. My new profile doesn't seem as sturdy and runs alot more with alot more noise. Is that normal? I do like the extra space of this one and boy does it keep my fruit and veggies fresh!

GFE26JYMFS. GE 25.7 CF Refrigerator French Doors

We bought this refrigerator recently at a small local appliance store in Mauston Wisconsin last December.
This is a 2nd home so we are not there full time.

After the dealer installed it we waited 24 hours before putting anything in it. During that time and for the last 5 months, when the fridge compressor runs and the Freon is being pumped into the coils, it makes this loud obnoxious grinding noise which is very annoying and disturbing. We contacted the dealer who sent a tech out to check it out.
After explaining the issue to him he said the sound is “not abnormal” which we found hard to believe. He explained that the fridges compressor is distributing the Freon and water into the coils and other elements of the fridge into to maintain the correct temperatures for the fridge and freezer. While the explanations seemed to make sense from a technical perspective, the sound it makes is unacceptable for a brand new refrigerator. He said the fridge is operating as designed and there was nothing else he could do. I visited the owner of the dealer on April 27th and reported the issue to her. I also took a video of the noise the fridge is making and texted it to her. She said a GE rep would be visiting her store that afternoon and would discuss the situation with the rep.
We are not completely satisfied with the fridge due to this issue. We’ve owned may refrigerators and have never encountered this type of problem before. Some fridges make a semi-loud noise when the compressor kicks on but then it’s just the normal humming sound you hear, no grinding noise. All of the features of the fridge are fine and it’s operating fine and we like the storage capacity and front panel controls and the finger print resistant French doors. We would like this problem addressed ASAP and are hoping to have hear from GE and the Dealer very soon.
