WE LIKE ALL OF THE FEATURES OF THIS MODEL, ESPECIALLY THE WAY THE INTERIOR IS LIT WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPEN. WE HAVE THE ICE MAKER IN THE DOOR FEATURE WHICH LIMITS THE DOOR SHELF SPACE ON THE LEFT SIDE,BUT WE CAN LIVE WITH THAT TRADE OFF. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE HANDLE COMING OFF OF THE FREEZER 8-10 TIMES, BUT IT HAS NOT CAUSED US ANY INJURY, YET! IT IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM!

Reliable so far

We’ve only had our GE refrigerator for a month or so, and so far it has been generally operating fine. My one small issue has to do with the ice maker/water dispenser. After a few weeks use, the cubed ice would not drop when the dispenser button was pressed. I open it up and it appeared that some cubes may have partially melted and then red rose into a semi/large block. Once I cleared that mass of ice, the machine resumed making smaller cubes and dispensed with no problem. I’m not sure what caused the initial problem as we did not have any power outages that would have caused the cubes to partially melt. On a related note, the water dispenser seems extremely slow. I’ve never had a refrigerator with this feature before, but based on using friends’ fridges, there seems to be something wrong with the flow of water in this GE. It could be a problem with the installation - I need to investigate further.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hey there,
This is certainly a great product to review. We're happy to see how much value you're getting from this beautiful refrigerator. Your concerns about the ice maker are understandable and we do have some information to share with you. If the dispenser on your refrigerator is not dispensing ice, this could be due to clumping ice cubes. If this is the case, the ice cubes in your icemaker may be clumping for a couple of reasons:
Low Food Load:
The defrost cycle radiates some heat into the freezer. The ice in the freezer will naturally absorb the heat. This will cause the ice to melt slightly during the defrost cycle and may cause the ice to freeze together in clumps. Increasing the food load in the freezer will buffer the warmth from the defrost cycle and keep the ice from melting. Make sure the freezer is at least 3/4 full of food.
Lack Of Use:
When the ice bin is full, the pressure from the weight of the cubes can cause the bottom cubes to fuse and clump. To prevent this from happening, discard the clumped ice and check the bin periodically to ensure the ice is not building up. If you do not use a large amount of ice, you may turn off the icemaker and stop ice production to prevent this as well.
Make sure to take advantage of all the awesome features included. Have a swell day! Mike@GEA

Nice large size refrigerator. Love the ice cube maker. I put a bowl for extra ice in the bottom. Easy to find food in the freezer and refrigerator due to drawers that roll out.
I would recommend this to a friend!
