Very noisy!

This refrigerator, which was new, came with the house we purchased. It keeps foods cold and frozen as it should. It is very noisy when running or cooling. I like the ice and water in the door and the shelf that pushes back so that you can set a gallon of milk inside the refrigerator. The stainless does show fingerprints and smudges, so I can always wiping it down.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Buyer beware - a pretty terrible fridge.

When we originally purchased this fridge, along with GE stove and dishwasher, we thought we'd made a good choice, however after a year of ownership I would rate this one of the worst fridges we've ever owned for several reasons:
1) the water filters have integrated RFID tag forcing customers to use only GE filters which are not ec0nomical. An incorrect filter and the fridge won't even let water dispense. You can replace it with a bypass plug but then you don't get filtered water. I would never have got this fridge if I knew that.
2) the fridge is very loud and hums often. I'm glad we are in a house where we sleep on the 2nd floor, where I can still hear it but I would have to get rid of the fridge immediately if the fridge was anywhere near our bedroom.
3) the spacing of the shelves in this fridge are awful, they do not fit a standard carton, and if you move the shelf on the right up it's about an inch below the upper shelf so it becomes mostly useless. there is a lot of wasted space in this fridge.
4) the doors on this fridge don't close nicely. You have to be intentional, you can't just give the door a swing and it closes tightly. Feels very low quality.
5) the ice machine makes ice so slow, and is fairly small so is always running out of ice even with light use for a family.
6) the bottom handle bracket broke after a few months. The part was replaced under warranty, but again the quality seems low.
As a family, we are very disappointed with this fridge. It will be the last GE product we purchase based on the requirement of GE RFID filters alone, restricting customer use! If it was about safety of filters, they could just have the fridge report unauthentic filter but still dispense water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Noise is irritating

The refrigerator is nice EXCEPT for the defrost motor is really loud. We have to run a room air filter to drown out the almost constant whine. Does anyone know if there is a recall on this motor?

Hi - We're glad you reached out and are happy to confirm there isn't a recall involving your model refrigerator. We're sorry you find the sound the refrigerator makes so irritating. Since the defrost motor is not in operation at all times, you may be hearing one of the other components running. Upon occasion after purchasing a new appliance it can take time to become accustomed to the new sounds it does make. If you have concerns that the sound is too loud or unusual, it would be best to have GE service out to check the refrigerator under warranty to ensure it's operating correctly. Love it especially the freezer size

I have used the refrigerator/freezer for about 3 weeks now. I love the size of the freezer. I had a bottom freezer in the past but not a GE. This has a lot more space. The refrigerator is also nicely designed to use all the space available. So far I am happy with this purchase.

Terrible ice maker

Awesome; But???

We love out GE refrigerator in our new home but we have had issues with the freezer drawer, coming off. The alarm, at times doesn’t work when left ajar.

Overall, this is a really nice refrigerator. The available size is incredible. Our old fridge with side by side frig/freezer always seemed to be packed tight. Every time I look in this fridge, there is always alot of space.
