Had problems within the first year with defrost

Had problems within the first year with defrost system. Took over 6 months to get any help in the matter. Replaced whole refrigerator. Hopefully this new one will continue to work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Motor is LOUD

I'm pleased with the look and function of this new refrigerator, but the motor is very loud. I've had it checked by an authorized technician who has ordered two new fans to be replaced. I'm awaiting that service appointment now.

Good but not great.........

Have the fridge for less than 6 months. Had to replace the water filter twice so far, ice maker doesn't make nearly enough ice and the size is small. Bottom drawer in the fridge is poorly designed. No rollers for ease of movement, plastic on plastic. Drawer doesn't slide easy and you MUST use 2 hands to close it otherwise it jams. Handles are poorly designed and kept falling off. Touch screen is way to sensitive for use. Cleaning is pretty good. My old Maytag is better, sorry GE, you need to improve on design.
Overall fridge is ok does some good, and some not so good, as there appear there are no corrective messures. If they would offer better drawer movement and bigger ice dispenser, I might give a better rating........Would love to hear GE feedback.

Happy with my purchase

I was shopping for a GE product as I heard that they tend to perform well and require less repair than other major brands. I was a bit concerned I would not like the ice maker as it seems much smaller than previous refrigerators I've owned. I have been satisfied with it as it does produce enough ice for me. My only tiny concern is that the motor is not as quiet as I would have liked. This doesn't really bother me as much as it worries me a little bit that something might be wrong. That is the reason why I didn't give it a 5-star review.

Knocking

Fridge/freezer work well but the ice/water makes knocking sound 24 hours a day. Sounds like someone at the door. We are going to have to shut off the ice/water. We had no input in these appliances.

Thanks for leaving a review. A boiling, gurgling, or knocking sound can be heard when the unit is running. This would be considered normal and is caused by the circulation of refrigerant. If there is a loud banging noise, this could be caused by water hammer. Water hammer is a knocking or banging noise in a water line that occurs when the water valve opens and closes on the refrigerator. This is caused by high water pressure in the house water supply line connected into the refrigerator. If this is the case, then we recommend consulting a professional plumber to find the root cause of water hammer sounds and a proper solution.

Lots of room!!

This fridge is so roomy, even the freezer can hold a lot more than it appears. The fridges runs very quietly, and we are please with the ice quality and amounts. Great fridge!
