Hello and sorry about the issue with the freezer handle falling off. We suggest making sure the handle "clicks" when placed on and slid to the right. If not this would cause the handle to not seat properly. Unfortunately, we will be returning this refrigerator after just 2 weeks of having it. The freezer handle comes off each time we try to open the door, despite tightening it. The top right shelf in the fridge slides, which is a nice feature, but because of this feature, you can not put anything of any substance on it, because it bends. Over time, I'm afraid it will end up breaking. The water/ice dispenser is very low. Great for kids, not for adults. The freezer door wiggles and creeks each time it's opened. It's unfortunate, but GE missed the mark on this one. Maybe it's just this fridge, because we have had GE appliances in the past that we were very happy with.

Very disappointed in the GE refrigerator

We purchased this refrigerator for our brand new home which we moved into in December 2020. We immediately started having issues with the water dispenser having a slow drip that never went away. After three service calls and the entire water line being replaced we were told that what we had was the best it was going to get. There was still a slow drip and now the dispenser made a loud noise when you dispensed water. The retailer where we purchased the refrigerator went to GE on our behalf and they replaced it with a brand new refrigerator. Well no more drip but the motor on this one is incredibly loud. We decided we were not going to fight anymore and would put up with the motor noise as we found out it can get worse after being fixed. Would never buy another GE fridge again. We recently purchased an additional refrigerator for overflow and freezer storage and purchased a Whirlpool!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I want to love this refrigerator

We've had this for six weeks. It looks beautiful except for the spot on the front where I'm still working on removing adhesive and styrofoam from the packing materials. The compressor runs way to much, sometimes it sounds like a food processor. Freezer has stopped working once already and thawed everything. It started working again after 24 hours. I have contacted customer service. The refrigerator section has maintained a consistent temperature and is spacious. The in-door ice maker comically shoots ice all over. Yeah, I know, hold the glass up higher, but surely there are others out there with kids; and we've had ice makers before but never this issue. So thumbs up for the fridge, thumbs down for the freezer, and neutral on the ice maker.

Brand new and now two tech appts

I really do not appreciate the amount of time spent having to fix this BRAND NEW appliance. I have called GE twice plus the home builders about this issue. The water filter has an error and it’s not making ice. I was sent a new filter and that didn’t work. Next up was a tech to come out who didn’t have any luck either. Now I have to wait another week to have a new computer board installed. These appliances are not made well. I can’t get any ice during the hottest time of the year and this process is very frustrating.
