GE French Door Refrigerator
on June 13, 2021

I purchased a GE 25.6-cu ft French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker, model # GFE26JYMNFFS. The refrigerator is constantly running and the items in the refrigerator are not cold. The seal on the freezer does not seal tight. I placed 3 ice cube trays in the freezer as well as cold water several hours ago and the water is not colder or frozen. There is frost building up in the freezer already. The exterior water dispenser is leaking. We tested the refrigerator temperature and it’s 50 degrees which is unacceptable. The entire refrigerator is made of flimsy plastic and the drawers are hard to pull out and push in. I am not happy with the quality of this refrigerator.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Defective motor in freezer

I tried to ignore your request for a review, but you kept sending it to me so here goes. This was my first purchase of a refrigerator with a water and ice dispenser in the door. I was nervous and excited because water leaks frighten me. The refrigerator is just beautiful. However, after waiting the required 24 hours for the refrigerator to get cold enough to make ice, it still did not make ice. I contacted the store who, in turn, contacted the service department. After 2 weeks they finally arrived. The repairman, after a hour, determined that the motor in the freezer was defective. Additionally, the water seemed to run extremely slow. The repairman told me that was usual. It was going to take another 2 weeks for the new motor to show up. The following week I can into the kitchen to find a large puddle of water on the floor in from of the refrigerator. That was enough for me. I contacted the store and told them to come back and get the refrigerator (will take another 10 days) and that I needed a full refund. They are supposed to come next week to get the refrigerator.

We love the layout inside. Plenty of space for a variety of foods. Also love the different meat/vegs compartments.

Loads of room!

We have had the fridge for over a year & would definitely purchase again & would recommend. It has loads of room & the freezer on the bottom, is roomy. Only complaint is, it’s hard (and expensive) to get water filters locally.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lots of Space

Nice big interior, like the non-finger print feature. Though have noticed that the water in the door dispenser does not get too terribly cold. The deli drawer is hard to pull out at times - and you must open both doors fully because deli drawer can hit the door gasket and tear it if the door closes on it.

Just not sure

I like the fact that I can see everything clearly on the shelves and the fridge is well lit. The freezer does hold more than I thought it would. I dislike the door shelves as the one large shelf limits what can go on other shelves height wise so I find that I have to put bottles on the fridge shelves vs door. The door with the ice maker in it sweats all the time and condensation makes it drip on inside of fridge or top of freezer door sometimes (even when humidity is not an issue) so I wind up wiping the doors a lot! The sliding shelf that allows for taller bottles limits you to 2-3 tall bottles (milk carton, juice, soda bottle). My biggest issue is the fluctuation in freezer temp. I put a brand new thermometer in freezer and glance at temp any time I open freezer (not more than 1-3 times a day). The temp should read 0 but rarely does. It is usually closer to 10 degrees (even first thing in morning when door has not been opened for at least 10-12 hours). I have only had the fridge for 2 weeks and am hoping the freezer "situation" does not continue or I will be contacting GE.

Hello, Thanks for the review. We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances and we're sorry to hear your disappointment in this model. We found that a little bit of frost or condensation around the ice bucket and icemaker area on the door is normal. We do apologize if this causes any inconveniences and we'll keep your comments on the design in mind for future models. Although 0 degrees F is the recommend setting for the freezer, it is normal for the temperature to measure between -5 and +8 degrees Fahrenheit. If you still have questions or concerns let us know. We're always here to help. -Sylvia@GEA
