Hi - Thank you for reaching out regarding your beautiful GE refrigerator. The newer model refrigerators do have a higher sound level than models of the past. This is due in large part to the efficient high speed compressor that will run 80-90% of the time. The advantage to this design is it allows for more consistent temperatures in both the freezer and fresh food sections and it actually saves energy since the compressor uses more energy when it starts up vs when it's running. This new refrigerator will definitely seem louder due to the longer run times. The frost build-up around the icemaker is something an authorized servicer should check to ensure the refrigerator is operating as designed.
