Nice refrigerator

We had our old GE refrigerator for 30yrs, which is the reason for purchasing this one. I've only had it for 3 weeks so no problems to this point. I do wish that the ice and water panel would light up the words to see what you are doing. The word are very hard to see.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Horrible internal shelving configuration options

I really do want to like the fridge that came with our new construction house, but I just can’t. The shelves/bins on the left French door are so incredibly shallow that only ketchup packets would fit in them. Those on the right door are spaced such that if you have a gallon milk container and other equally tall containers, you have to remove one of the shelves/bins to get them to fit and still be able to get them out. The glass shelves are nice because they’re glass. The freezer compartment is a joke. The bins are plastic and very cheap looking. Every time the door is opened, it sounds like something cracks (and the bins are not all that filled. Also, the refrigerator doors don’t close unless you physically close them yourself (pushing with hand on all the way to closed) - pushing them doesn’t do it, they only close part way and then stay open.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Congratulations on the new refrigerator! We appreciate the feedback and are happy to help with the downfalls you are having. Comments like this are helpful for the future improvement of our appliances. The ice maker in this model will make approximately 3.6 lbs per day and the ice bin holds 3.8 lbs.
If the production is under this, check that the filter is properly instill and turn down the temperature setting on the unit. As always, let us know if you have any more questions or concerns. - John@GEA

The doors do not close unless they are forced shut. Never had a refg that didn't self close with a little slope toward the unit. Also there is no butter area on the doors.

Hello, we greatly appreciate you choosing GE Appliances for your kitchen. We do not take your trust lightly and will be happy to help. If the doors are not falling shut when partially closed, we recommend making sure the unit is leveled properly. The front of the refrigerator should be about 1/4" higher than the rear. Also, try storing a few extra items in the door to add some weight.
This specific model does not have a diary bin in the door. We apologize for the inconvenience. Many other models we offer feature a drop down bin to store items such as butter. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions. - John@GEA
