I love to new range. It wasn't installed an hour when I received a text from our granddaughter requesting brownies–just to make sure the oven worked correctly. ;) It worked beautifully. I am very pleased with the purchase.
Furthermore I was impressed with the installers. Very professional and pleasant.
When the oven is on, even at 350 degrees the entire top of the stove becomes extremely hot. The higher the temperature, the hotter the stove top becomes and it’s too hot to even touch and heats up the cook and the kitchen. And it takes a long time to cool off. Also, hot air pours from the oven through the gap above the oven handle. The hot air does NOT come out of the vents behind the handle. A technician came and said the vent in the back burner was working properly.
Very disappointed to learn new stoves do not have the insulation under the stovetop as older models do. The surface, when cooking or baking, becomes so hot it is unsafe to touch. Do not set a metal spoon on the stovetop as it will burn your hand when picked up! The panel where the burner knobs are also gets very hot when the oven is on, especially in the back right corner near the vent. Needed the coil burners as I do canning, which flattop surfaces do not support, and am not a fan of gas stoves. Also disappointed the oven light does not come on automatically when the oven door is opened.
I have been searching for the perfect Range to fit my needs and this product had it all. Simple operation easy to maintain and good looks. I am very satisfied with the purchase.
This is a good, basic stove that does all we want it to do cookwise. Both stovetop and oven coils work well. Our primary complaint is that the storage drawer is CHEAP!. It is made of very light, flimsy sheet metal. It flexes a great deal and is difficult to slide in and out. On our prior stove, we used the drawer to store frequently used pots and pans. We have now put them elsewhere and use this drawer only for stuff we seldom need.
Installation and setup was easy except for leveling. Common sense would lead the manufacturer to ship the stoves with the legs set to be level on a level surface. Nope. This stove arrived with the front legs screwed all the way out and the rear legs screwed all the way in. Moreover, the front legs, which are reasonably accessible, have steel threads and turn easily by hand. The rear legs, which are very difficult to access, have plastic threads that bind and require a wrench to turn. Not good ergonomics. GE could have eliminated the entire problem by just shipping the stove with all of the legs set equally.
