Best TV for the price with high end performance

I got the KDL50W800B as my 3rd TV. Since I'm a user of this TV, I thought of leaving some feedback. First of all TV has very good appearance and build quality. Feels very light but definitely feels like a premium product.Very narrow border with metal finish instead of plastic edges give that premium feel.
Secondly this TV really impressed with it's power consumption without compromising the picture quality. If you check the specs of most of the TVs which are similar screen size you'll find out they all use above 200W power to run the TV. But this unit just uses a power adapter which has 19.5V (similar to a laptop power adapter) and TV uses just 87W to run.
I have compared the picture of Sony TVs with other brands from same price range, Sony Bravia engine has an outstanding performance. I have a Sony 4K TV and this TV performs very similar to that. Very bright and produces nice Reds,Blues and Greens. This panel has deep black colour as well. If you stream internet videos noise reduction function works pretty well.
Sound is amazing for a slim TV like this. There are few sound tweaks which you can play with to get the best result. This has Optical output to connect it with a powerful home theatre system get the real cinema feel.
Smart TV apps are well designed. There are plenty of apps to select. Web browser is good and loads most of sites I've tried without any problem. Some features like screen mirroring, throw functions really helpful if you have Sony Xperia devices. It has built-in media player which can play most of the media files whether using a USB device, or network drive. This TV has built-in WiFi to get the best benefits of smart TV apps.
Conclusion : This is the best TV I've seen in this price range. This is the ultimate TV for day to day watching without compromising the picture quality while saving some electricity bill. Bravia engine really creates some amazing pictures. When I played the same contents on other brands and this TV, this produced more detail on videos. ( Video I played has a person singing on a stage with a music band. Person who was singing was visible on all TVs but the people who were standing in the background with the band only visible on this sony tv.) I would be happy to pay slightly more than RRP price for the quality and performance.

My PS4 powers on, the TV turns on, it switches to the correct channel, the picture setting change to game mode, and all I did was press the PS button on my controller.
Gaming on this TV: - Great value for money - Very low input lag (One of the best on the market) - Gorgeous picture - Deep, detailed blacks - "Smart" features are surprisingly good - has Snake and Minesweeper!! - Good build quality and attention to detail
Seriously a great choice for anyone looking for a premium TV, especially if you are a gamer.

The Sony W800B is my first smart TV and my first TV with 3D. Although it was replacing my old 50" plasma TV, I didn't think that it would be too much of a difference. But boy was I wrong! My new 50" Sony W800B really shows how far technology has come in 5 years. The picture quality of this TV is nothing short of AMAZING! Sony has really done something special with this TV and their display technology and it clearly shows that all Full HD TVs are definitely not the same. I've only had the TV for just over a week now and can't explain why or how it looks better than my old TV. I think it has something to do with Sony's X-Reality PRO picture engine combined with its Motionflow XR 400 technology that makes the TV a lot sharper, lifelike and smoother than my old TV. Even my wife keeps saying how much better and different the TV looks, but she too can't explain what exactly is different. The other thing I love about the W800B is that it's internet connected and is a smart TV that supports lots of apps. My favourites apps are Youtube and Netflix to stream HD TV shows directly to my TV. Again, for some reason, using the Netflix app via the TV as opposed to my Playstation 3 and 4 seems to deliver even better quality results making things look a lot clearer and sharper for streaming TV.

This is one of the Best Tv's ive owned in its class with Crystal Clear Picture With Motion Blur that u wont even see & Comes with Many Features & Apps, you can also adjust the settings to ur liking without problems, Quick start when u turn on the tv, Very Efficient in power consumption i am very shocked as my laptop uses more power than this Tv its Amazing good for the power bills, the TV does not get very hot either 3D mode for movies is also great but u can be Disoriented if u watch too much 3D so only good for time to time 1080p is also Amazing dont waste ur money on 4K Tv's u will never see it as the tv tells u what resolution the tv broadcasters are showing you with the info display button you will be lucky to watch 1080i the most unless u watch Blu-Ray or other 1080p content, sound is crystal clear too
I cannot Fault this tv at all the only cons i can find is internet streaming can be a bit sluggish with freeview plus but i have high speed cable internet @ 31.5 Mbs, can also be a little slow loading your apps and the content u want to watch but other than that this TV is Terrific with a nice slim metal bezel & Stand well done Sony for a Great TV I highly recommend this product
Thankyou Sony for a Gr8 TV

A good middle range high performer

The thin bezel makes the 50" big enough for that cinema experience, but small enough that you don't feel crowded out of the room. The sound is fine out of the box, but use a good sound bar (e.g. HT-CT370 2.1 plus wireless woofer) to complete the package for the average home. The menus can take a bit to navigate, and the options are sometimes hard to find first off.

Your new 'Gaming' Smart TV has arrived!!!

Sony's KDL-55W800B is the best 'bang for your buck' Smart TV that I have owned (in both model and brand) as it provides exceptional value (in both features and functionality) for an affordable price!
Aesthetically, this is one elegant piece of technology that would compliment any living room (as it does in mine). Both the bezel and the actual panel are very thin, whilst the build quality is both durable and sturdy.
I currently have this TV connected to an HDMI AV Receiver (as part of a component Home Theatre System) and have been very impressed with how 'smart' this TV actually is!
The automatic input switching is brilliant, in addition to the return audio feature and the automatic picture 'scene' selection.
I literally just change the inputs on my Receiver and my TV does the rest in an instant... also, lets not forget how quickly the TV turns on \ off and navigates through the menu and inputs.
I have used Smart TV's in the past and have been very disappointed with their 'responsiveness' and boot \ shutdown times, but not with Sony's W800B!
The picture quality is superb, especially when watching Bluray's or HD content on TV, and the ability to change preset 'scenes' to adjust the picture reproduction to your own personal taste is a nice touch - however I often leave this on 'automatic' as the TV is smart enough to chose the right settings depending on the content I'm watching (eg: TV Show, Movie, Bluray, Game).
If I had to pick my favorite two features of my Sony W800B TV it would be the 'DLNA' functionality and 'Low Lag' Gaming Responsiveness.
The built in WiFi feature is brilliant (especially not needing an external adapter) and my TV will automatically find my network storage hard drive and bring it up as an additional 'input' to choose from in the menu.
From someone who watches lots of TV Shows, Documentaries and Movies this feature is an absolute must, and the folder structure of the content is displayed very easily and is quick and simple to navigate!
Most importantly, almost all video formats can be played back straight to the TV without any trans-coding, stutter or buffering! I did not expect this from a mid range TV at this price point and was very delighted and surprised!
Secondly, I have multiple games consoles (and a gaming PC) connected to this TV and I had researched for weeks and weeks prior to purchasing this TV and was very impressed with the results from 'lag input' tests... which determined that this TV does not suffer from input lag / screen tearing or ghosting during fast paced action or scenes (eg: Battlefield 4, GTA V, Forza 5).
Compared to my previous TV, the Sony W800B is very easy on the eyes, and my games always look crisp and sharp!
I highly recommend this model!

Great TV - if you are reading this buy the tv

I got a great deal on the TV - definatly shop around and negotiate with sales staff.
My first TV was a sony and I loved it back in the 90s it was a great TV - since then I have owned 4 other branded TVs working my way up to this beaut. I am glad to be rocking a Sony in the lounge once again -
It is the best I have owned but you would obviously expect that - being a current model in the ever changing electronics world (although TV innovation has slowed somewhat down of recent times, now is a great time to get the latest) If you are not going to fork out for a 4k definitely get this range at the minimum especially if you are buying for your main TV.
The blacks are very black and the motion is super smooth - Sport is amazing amazing, i regularly get comments from friends that they have never seen a game look so good.
Cons - interface is not as good some of the other leading brands - built in apps are not amazing but they are sufficient - integration with sony receiver is ok but not fantastic.
overall though great tv you should buy it - I would buy it again
Pros: Quality, Design
