Ice Maker broke after only 2 1/2 years

The ice maker has stopped making ice and the fridge is only 2.5 years old. The ice maker is not used much, only for an occasional glass of ice for a cold drink, so it is not like it is over-worked. The cold water still dispenses and the ice dispenser/crusher still rotates. It's not like this was a cheap fridge to buy! Once in a while I get a stupid notion that maybe American made products are better made these days and that always bites me! Next time I will buy a foreign made one, which at the rate this one is breaking down will probably be soon. Also, the handle on the freezer keeps coming off. With each opening of the freezer it works a little more loose where it eventually comes totally off. Furthermore, the temperature settings for the freezer and the fridge are way off - by 10 degrees most of the time. I have to set it to accommodate for this (although the control only allows up to a 6 degree offset).

I’ve had this less than a year, having issues with the ice maker and water. Water flow is minimal after changing the filter. Now it just doesn’t work.

Don’t know if we bought a defective one or what but it Will randomly beep and the temperature of the freezer will keep going up and down. Have to unplug and plug it back it for it to restart itself.

Dual doors

First time to have this style. I love the bottom freezer. Not happy that I must open both refrigerator doors to pull out the drawers. We are seniors with older eyes. The lettering on the water/ ice area is difficult to read,

Fabulous fridge!

This is the best GE refrigerator I have had yet! My food stays the perfect temperature. I love the front panel with crushed ice or cubes and all filtered. This was definitely a great choice. I have noticed that my groceries do stay fresh longer. The only downside is I hear it running and forget it is much larger than my last GE refrigerator. The doors are wonderful for loading, the freezer on the bottom is convenient and overall this is a great purchase.

Very nice GE fridge & freezer!
Pros - Roomy, well-planned shelves and bins, nice looking.
Cons - Buzzes ALOT ( my kitchen is in center of house so we hear it buzzing throughout house); Water choices on outside of fridge are not lit, so at night one cannot choose cube or chopped ice and/or water without turning on kitchen light.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
