Beautiful slate, but what happened to R&D?

One of three GE units we purchased, the outside slate color is beautiful and surface durability is excellent. My review is one year later. I never give an immediate review because when an item is shiny and new like a penny, it seems perfect. Our refrigerator was professionally installed and the freezer handle came off nearly every day for 3 months until the GE svc rep came to make repairs on the new GE stove and microwave. He put in a work order and fixed the handle with a twist of his own that stopped the handle from coming off. First-time family tried owning a bottom freezer. Not fans. That is our fault, not GE. I hate the dump mode instead of the side-by-side organization. This model has very spacious door trays. Love that feature and the LED lights at the top and bottom sides. You can really see what's inside. After owning this refrigerator for a while, I do not understand why a woman was not a part of the research and development that goes into the practical usage and need of a refrigerator's functionality. There is a long tray that goes across the entire interior for meat and misc. items meaning you have to open both doors to get anything out of the tray. Inconvenient and inefficient on cost. The ice maker malfunctioned and jammed a lot after 2 months. The same technician repaired that issue. No problems afterward. It does not crush ice well. So, we do not allow the boys to use that feature which is a downer for all of us. Finally, there is no drip tray on the outside door for spills. If GE is too cheap to put one there, the least you could do is give us the option to buy it. I did my research and GE came out on top with REAL reviews of customers for the ability to hold up on its internal operations. All of these ancillary things we had to be fixed are sadly common in many brands, so we bought GE because repair guys say internally, they HOLD UP. GE should work on their ice maker quality, door handles, and split that tray.

Refrigerator with ice and water in door

This refrigerator was a replacement for a frig that leaked and could not be fixed after a new door and several attempts to repair. The replacement refrigerator is also leaking. Water running down the inside of the door. Very disappointed in product!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The GE refrigerator has overall great features much like the Whirlpool refrigerator we had to replace. There are some features that I don't like about the GE refrigerator. There are limited shelf adjustments that minimize how I can lay out the contents. The narrow door shelves on the left door are basically useless for only salad dressing bottles. The door shelves on the right door have limited adjustments too that I don't like.
I do like the deep drawers for fruits and vegetables. The lighting is very bright when you open up the refrigerator to see the contents. The bottom drawer could be a bit taller to accommodate items. This drawer is too short.
The overall sound of the motor in the GE refrigerator is not very quiet. My Whirlpool refrigerator was much quieter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

GE REPLACEMENT REFRIGERATOR

THE REASON I CHOSE THIS REFRIGERATOR IS BECAUSE IT HAD > 14,000 4 1/2 STAR REVIEWS. I'VE ONLY HAD IT 2 DAYS AND LOVE IT EXCEPT:
1. YOU HAVE TO OPEN BOTH DOORS TO ACCESS BOTTOM SLIDE OUT TRAY. WISH THIS HAD BEEN SPLIT LIKE THE OTHER TWO SLIDE OUT DRAWERS.
2. ALSO WISH FRENCH DOORS WERE SOFT CLOSE. I HAVE TO REALLY PUSH THEM TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SHUT TIGHTLY
