Interior Shelves/Bins Strength/Flexibility Lack

The shelves cannot be switched to either side of the fridge, the shelf position adjustments are limited to 3" increments, the dividers in the pantry drawer and freezer cannot be set to stay in place, and the shelves on right side of freezer either need to be deeper or door bins deeper as there is a lot of wasted open space between the door bins and shelves. The bottom pantry drawer could also be three or four inches deeper as there is space that is wasted there as well. The bottom shelf that goes across, that the vegetable bins attach underneath is already beginning to bow down in the middle after five days as there is not a support at the front of it. I have not put heavy items in the middle of that shelf. I have just put vegetables in the drawers. None of the drawers in the fridge or freezer seem to slide very smoothly. We had to get a new French door refrigerator after six years with another brand that was much better constructed and had none of these interior feature inadequacies, but it started needing to be defrosted monthly.
This is our first experience with water/ice in the door. It seems like the whole panel in the front should be backlit somehow so you can see where the buttons are to select water, crushed or cubed ice. The light button illuminates the area where you put your glass to receive whatever you have selected, but doesn't help with button selection.
As long as I don't have to keep emptying it out and defrosting it like my old one I will get used to this one. It has finally quieted down after the first three to four days. The fans, compressors seemed to run continuously at the beginning and it is not so loud now, also unlike my old one, which was very quiet.
We thought we would try an American brand, but this refrigerator with its disappointing inadequacies of the interior will hopefully make up for that lack, in a lifespan of more than six years.

I would have expected more from GE

Our old French door fridge's compressor was acting up so back in August we tried to replace it but due to Covid no one had any appliances in stock to even look at. We liked the French door style and ordered it based on the GE webpage picturing it so we never really saw it in person. It was finally delivered on December 14th. We like the color, Slate Black and the overall outside appearance. But we are very disappointed with the interior. The lighting is not good at all and is lit mostly from above so if you put something big on the top shelf everything below is in shadows, Other makes have a vertical LED strip of lights on both sides and down the back wall so that lit everything so well. Furthermore the shelf mounts are limited with only a small number of attachment points, so there are not so many variations for setting shelf height. And the worse thing is that the 3 drawers have no glides or rollers in their tracks, it's plastic on plastic so they are hard to pull out and even harder to push the drawers back in smoothly; I am sure the wider bottom drawer will break at some point in the future as if you don't use 2 hands to evenly push it in it goes crooked and binds up. For the price we paid I would have expected the drawers to work decently. Last but not least the freezer has no light inside so it is dark. I think we were wrong and if we had to do it over would not by this model
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this refrigerator

Our family loves this fridge. I read a lot of reviews about it, some good and some average. So far we love it. Spacious and cold. The door shelves on the left door could be bigger and deeper but other than that, 5 stars GE!
