Best TV I Have Owned
on April 24, 2014
Posted by: Knuckles
I have owned a new TV every year for the past 4 years. Sadly they were all Samsung TV's. Every TV before that was a sony. I switched over to samsung because everything you read says Samsung is one of the best or is the best. Well, I have 4 years of experence that says otherwise. 2 of the TV's in that four year went bad within the first year. That being said, I have had the 55W950B for a week now and have been playing with setting every day. This is by far the best TV I have ever owned. Great black levels. Beautiful colors. The Playstation 4 looks sick on this TV as well as blu-ray movies. The TV sound is also great on its own . I purchased the CT770 sound bar with it and makes this a complete package. I am so happy I purchased this TV and will never try another brand. If your looking for the best 2K TV of 2014 Please try this TV. You will not regret it!!!

Great picture and colors.

PROS:
Picture and colors are great.
Sound is OK for such small speakers. I use surround sound for DVDs but for news etc. I just use TV speakers.
Wedge design is not noticeable as some have complained about. Overall the TV is a good looking device.
CONS:
Support legs are chrome and reflect the TVs picture. They should have used non-reflective legs. This can be solved by covering legs with tape.
With this model after turning off a connected device such as a DVD player you have to physically select the input mode to go back to the TV. With my other Sony (40”) you only have to push one button (channel up or down) to go back to the previous channel. Not a real big deal but consistency would be nice.

Verified Purchase:Yes
There has been a lot of bad reviews from review websites on this TV- mostly regarding black levels and uniformity issues- I only found a small few of these reviewers actually say that 99% of buyers won't notice or care about these 'horrible issues' with this television which is what they all should be saying. I just want to reassure those who will be buying this television for a living room(which I assume are the majority of people out there) to take any and all reviews including mine with a grain of salt. I hardly trust reviews these days as a lot of them seem to be biased. With that being said, in terms of 1080p picture quality in my living room, this TV matches up against any 1080p on the market today. It is spectacular. The 3D is also better than I expected considering some of the reviews. I will not compare this to a 4K because it is not a direct comparison of like tv's. I felt I needed to reassure those on the fence as I hardly ever submit a product review. You won't be disappointed.

Crisp & Clear

The picture on this TV is excellent, in initial setup it pulled in 40+ digital channels (I have cable, no set-top box) and the digital channels are so crisp it blew my mind, couldn't believe what I've been missing. I could of cared less that it was 3D but after checking it out its kinda neat. In regular everday programming it gives everything depth, don't expext things to look like there flying at you. If watching a high action movie on DVD the 3D is awesome. Couple of cons is the apps, for you sports fans it does support NFL or NHL apps, but you can easily plug your laptop or smartphone in to run them. Another annoying littlle thing is there is no ASPECT button on remote. To switch between Wide, Normal, Zoom, Cinama you have to go to the menu and pick your way through, but thats just minor. It does come with two remotes, one standard and one mouse pad type, it takes a little getting used to but is nice. Sound is good and if playing music, with some tweaking can make it sound decent. If you Skype the camera is clear w/wide angle camera, if not it flips up, easy on/off Skyping. Its got all the bells and whistles that you would want in a smart TV, I'm happy with it and recommend.

Great TV

I love my Sony W950B TV. The picture is very sharp and the colors are vivid. The flesh color is very natural and not the overly bright color you see on some newer TV;s. The setup was easy and the smart TV features are easy to you. I would definitely recommend this TV.

This replaces a 46" XBR Sony TV. There is nothing wrong with it but I wanted a bigger screen and this TV, the top of Sony's line for HD, does not disappoint. Color saturation, clarity and detail are important for me and this one delivers in spades. My only regret now is that I didn't go for the 65" version. Oh wait...I did! I just got the 65" this week and it is wonderful. I was afraid it would be too big and overpowering for the space but not so. In fact I could go another 10 inches and be comfortable. I looked briefly at other brands but never seriously considered anything but a Sony. Happy, happy, happy with this purchase.
