Prior to my EOS-1D X Mark II, I was using an EOS 6D Mark II with EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. I've been shooting primarily nature, animals, and outdoor sports -- bouldering and rope climbing -- with occasional portraits and group shots. Due to a challenging combination of low light and fast movement, I used to have many missed shots. That wasn't a problem since I take 5000 or so separate exposures per session. Now with the EOS-1D X Mark II, nearly every shot is flawless -- sharp and well-exposed -- and the only challenge is selecting the best of the best. I actually had to buy a new computer to handle the load of RAW processing. I couldn't be happier.

Excellent for Sports Wildlife Photography

As my skillset and involvement with photography increased, I steadily moved up the Canon camera line from Rebel to 7D then 5D Mark III and then a few months back, up to the 1D X Mark II. I primarily shoot sports & wildlife, and this camera excels at both. It is a bit on the heavy side, especially with a long telephoto lens, but not unmanageable--and if can handle it w/o real issue at 4'10", then you can as well. I absolutely adore this camera--the autofocus is amazingly fast, and it excels in low light.. My pictures pop even more now. It also feels really comfortable in my hands. My go to setup is almost always this camera with the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, and it has never failed me. I do not shoot video, so I can't address that aspect. The one thing that my 5D had that the 1D X Mark II does not have is the ability to use SD cards. However the CF Fast card speed is phenomenal--just wish those cards were not so expensive.

I've had it for a little over 3 weeks now, having recently returned from a trip to Arches and Grand Canyon National Parks. With the 1Dx ii, I also bought the latest versions of the L lenses, 24-70 2.8/f and the 70-200 2.8L IS. Absolutely phenomenal performance. My previous Canons were the 20D, and the 7D. Semi-retired, I would say I'm an "advanced amateur," and am sharing my passion for Canon cameras with one of my daughters and one of my grandsons. I could not enjoy this camera more!

I've had the 1D X II for almost two years now. It is the most powerful camera I've ever used. It's 14fps are insane: I'm still not use to it. The DualPixel AF is amazing, it's enabled be to get shots I couldn't before. The GPS is a nice function to map with in Lightroom. The battery life is solid, the build quality is second to none. The real 4K video is astounding, my personal favorite is the 1080 @ 120fps. The inclusion of a headphone jack this time around is much appreciated. The LCD screen is great & the touch screen for focusing is a great option. The CFast card recording is very very fast, and allows long burst rates and 4K 30fps video. My only issue is the audio jack, it has a little white noise. However, I run my mic through a preamp now & it sounds perfect. Very happy with the 1D X II.

Body Paint, AF at F8 and Flash High Speed SYNC

A. Potential defective paint, using the Canon Strap, around my neck, walking around Comic Con for 3-4 hrs, the paint is fading after 3-4 hours contact with my Cotton Shirt from Polo, unfortunately I won't be allow to post picture or link to the picture. 1DX Mark II owner please report if there is similar problem to ensure a better product in the future.
B. Soft focus at F2.8 to F4 using 70-200mm IS II 2.8 lens. I wiill need to use the Micro Adjustment for the lens.
C. Silent Continuous Shoot Mode and Hi Speed Sync on TTL Flash, it is hit or miss, either perfect, dark or too bright.
D. F8 to F11 on 24-70mm 2.8 II, I have a hard time to focus on couples during Sunset Conditions.
E. I can't open the RAW CR2 file with my cs6, will need to use DNG converter or yealy CC.
I strongly recommend fashion photographer and wedding photographer test out the Silent Shoot Mode with Flash/Hi Speed SYNC and Auto Focus during low light or Sun Set conditions.
I am current owned: Canon 1DX MkII, Canon 5D Mk III, Canon Rebel, and other Flagship non Canon.

I bought this camera to shoot sports for it's fps, build, low light performance and auto focus. What I did not expect was the excellent image quality. Best camera body I have ever had.

I’ve only had this camera for a week and already my customers are raving about how awesome my photos looks. Yes, I consider myself a pro and so that has to do a lot about it but there’s a HUGE difference between my Canon 5DM2 (which has been my working camera for the past 10 years) and my 1DXM2. I’m totally enjoying this camera. The clarity is just amazing.
