Disappointed with this 5 door

I replaced an LG door-in-door fridge which just quit after 10 years. This 5-door has some real drawbacks to the design. I have had this 3 weeks today. The actual ice maker is in the ceiling of the unit and the ice bucket/ dispenser is in the door. There is a door in the ceiling unit which drops the ice into the bucket with a rubber gasket on the door to the ice bucket. Water leaks out of the ice maker over the gasket into the fridge onto the lower storage draw sliding doors. Found an ice cube caught in the door from the actual ice maker above the gasket yesterday. The ice bucket in the door is open at the gasket area so all the ice cubes are being melted by the fridge temp of 37 deg. and they stick together. If you want ice for an ice chest I have to break the ice up before it will drop out of the container.
There is a narrow divider/storage section in the bottom area of the freezer that can't be removed but no real room for an extra container of ice for ice chest use.
The two drawers have sloped sides with limits the amount of items you can put in the drawer. 1/3 of the drawer width is lost due to the sloped sides. The sides could be 90 deg and the divider panel not so thick. Makes the use of the drawers limited.
The in door water dispenser splashes water. It doesn’t dispense in a smooth stream. The control panel is far less user friendly than the LG I had. Requires lots of finger presses. I am not impressed.
The fridge does match my ovens and dishwasher handles.
Wish I had more time to look and take delivery on a new fridge. I would not by the design again.

Expensive Fridge with Faults
on November 22, 2022

We bought this fridge two years ago, and a couple months ago, the ice maker stopped making ice. The front control panel goes black and won't come back on. Since this is out of warranty, the cost to fix this expensive fridge is on us. If you are looking for something that lasts, I'd steer clear of KitchenAid as we are also having issues with our stove that was bought at the same time. The fridge is nice and roomy, the drawers are very handy, it just doesn't last for being so expensive.

Loved it but….

We purchased this model. Had it right under three years. The whole thing went out. Luckily it was under warranty and we got most our money back. I’m not sure how they hold up now but for that much money I was glad we still has the warranty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had our refrigerator for just under 4 1/2 years. Of course just as the warranty ran out there is a transfer switch that manages the ice make that went out. We entered a request for service about 6 weeks ago and it still isn’t fixed (a part had to be ordered twice). I am disappointed that the surface of the refrigerator is starting to put and rust. It seems that a refrigerator at this price point would last longer.

Extra drawers are worth the cost

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Am very happy with my choice. The extra crisper and flex drawers are totally worth it. Only downside/tradeoff is reduced area for tall condiments like salad dressing or catsup. If gallon jug is in the door, the remaining shelf is useless. Unit is better suited for 1-2person households.
Freezer setup is fantastic. FYI don't worry if you don't get ice for 24hours.
I would recommend this to a friend!
