Beautiful Refrigerator but not worth the money

I remodeled my kitchen in August 2015 and purchased an Oven/Microwave Combination and the Top of the Line Refrigerator that KitchenAid had at the time to replace my existing KitchenAid side by side refrigerator that I purchased in 2003 which still works but is now use in my garage, I already had the KitchenAid Stovetop and Dishwasher, other than the handle on the dishwasher not matching, all the appliances were now KitchenAid and looked great together. Both the Oven and Refrigerator were about $8000.00 including tax, delivery and installation.
The new refrigerator was very roomy and looked gorgeous and it took a few weeks to figure out all the different options, but eventually did and loved all the features, except for the ice maker. The ice maker wasn’t producing as much ice as I was used to with my older model, but was able to work around that since I had my old one in my garage hooked up to water and had enough ice to get by. I did some research and noticed that I wasn’t the only customer that had the same problems with the ice production.
After about 3 years of having the new refrigerator I opened the door and there were no lights and it appeared to be not working. Since the refrigerator is in a cubby in the wall, It couldn’t be easily pulled out to unplug, so I turned it off at the breaker on the side of my house. I kept it turned off for about 10 minutes and when I turned it on it re-booted itself and worked for a few hours and eventually stopped again. I repeated the process and was able to get it to stay on for several days. This happened every few weeks but by re-booting it, it seemed to work. Then it stopped working and re-booting it didn’t help either. I called American Home Shield and they set up an appointment with their local appliance repair company. They came out and ran some diagnostics and told me that they talked to KitchenAid and that they agreed to send out their specialist from Whirlpool and I wouldn’t be charged even though the warranty had expired. In August 2019, they replaced the icemaker, the motor/compressor and the entire front of the freezer drawer because the seal needed to be replaced.
Then the other morning I opened up the door and again there were no lights and the motor wasn’t working – This was 5 months after the last repairs. So i re-booted again and after about 3 or 4 times of waiting several minutes, it started up again and has been working for about 5 days straight. I called KitchenAid and was told that they will not repair it for free and I would be charged for a service call but if any of the new parts that were installed in August 2019 had to be replaced I wouldn’t have to pay for those, but there would be no way of knowing until I committed to paying for a service call.
I called American Home Shield back and they were going to send someone out for $75.00 service call, but the refrigerator is working and it would be a waste of time and money to send someone out while it’s working.
Bottom line, this is the most expensive appliance that I have ever bought and for the price I paid I shouldn’t have to spend so much time getting it repaired.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please Do NOT Buy This Refrigerator!

Just like another reviewer I bought this refrigerator in 2016 and it has caused more issues than any other appliances in our house. The freezer drawers gave in during the first few months due to misalignment. The cheap plastic material came apart and one of the drawers is non-functional from the very beginning. Next year, water started to leak out from under the freezer that ruined the base of the cabinetry with water damage. For the past week, the loud rattling sound coming out of the freezer was itself an announcement of disaster. Finally, when I got home from work today I found the refrigerator dead and quiet with a few occasional alarm beeps. I bought this refrigerator for my new house but I guess it was a bad decision.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's like an apartment building inside!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the most spacious, organized refrigerator I've ever used. We absolutely love it. All the features work well. It has so much room in both fridge and freezer, and all the well-though compartments, like the frozen pizza section, snack drawers perfect for yogurt tubes or pouches, and the two small drawers that close softly on their own. We could not love this more.

Nothing but problems

What a beautiful looking refrigerator! Caught my eye immediately and we bought all the kitchen appliances. My kitchen looks beautiful. But don’t let looks deceive you...nothing but problems with the refrigerator. Bought this beauty and it was installed December 2016, within a year, we’ve had repair companies come out several times to figure out and fix the problem. 3/30/17, 4/5/17 4/19/17 4/25/17 5/4/17 5/16/17 6/8/17 & 8/18/17 they fixed it. Since then the ice maker doesn’t always work - very temporal. I have to constantly empty the ice try. We’ve just dealt with it. Until again recently, water on my floor, buckling my hardwood floor. They came out again yesterday and said there was too much Freon and it probably was a factory error. Today woke up to water inside my refrigerator and in the floor again!! Called them to come back...this refrigerator is such a disappointment. Definitely would not recommend.

I Love It !!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 1 month ago, so far I'm loving it. I looked at every refrigerator in the store. I kept coming back to this one. It has so much room. The Platinum interior makes it much easier to find everything. The extra 2 drawers are so handy. The one drawer changes temp for cold drinks, deli items, etc. It was more expensive than I had planned on, but I think it is worth it.

We were apprehensive with the buy but so far so good! The refrigerator looks amazing in our kitchen. Everyone is drawn to it at first site. It has great accessibility: freezer space -- holds a lot, love it's 3 drawers, easy to find things; top section affords ease of visual inspection, so much space(!!!); two middle drawers offer enhanced food freshness capability. Okay, it's big ... but very efficient, beautiful and offers great value for the money.

Nothing but problems!

We purchased all KitchenAid products for our new custom built home in 2018. We were so excited with how beautiful it all looked. However, we have had nothing but issues with this refrigerator. At 11 months, the motherboard in the left drawer had to be replaced. Since then, the freezer and refrigerator stopped working. We've had repair people out 3 times, this month to fix it. They replaced all the motherboards and it's still not working. It's unacceptable to have a 2 year old product that has had this many issues. Extremely disappointed.
