Died Dec 25th 2022, 3 months and still not working

We purchased the KRMF706ESS in August of 2019. It has failed twice due to the condenser and now the entire electrical system failed. Our fridge died this time on Dec. 25th 2022 and we have had two service calls and the recent one March 15th. They came out and did not have the proper equipment to move this large fridge and rescheduled us to April 6th. We purchased the Epic protection plan and they will not do anything to support us but schedule service. I think the fridge should be replaced at this point and after over three months without any refrigerator working in our house, only one we have, it is beyond ridiculous. Not the company I thought you were since they say it is up to you weather we get this replaced. I will not be purchasing a whirlpool product again or the advertised protection plan that does nothing for us. 3 months and no refrigerator, living out of a cooler and shopping daily....Seems like a great way for someone to get sick from spoiled food to me but then it's clear you don't care.

Amazingly functional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was unsure how all of the handles would look in my house. It actually looks great! The best thing about this is the freezer. It has a few shallow pullout shelves that hold so much and take up very little space in the freezer. All that stuff that would wallow buried on the bottom of your freezer for years is now accessible! The whole fridge is just so well thought out. I'm a man - one who couldn't care less about a fridge until this one. Highly recommended!

Horrible...horrible..horrible

We have had this fridge just over 4 years and in the last 6 months we have had to reset it about 4 times, which means it stops working and we have to unplug for about 10 minutes and then plug back in...meanwhile food has gone bad because it just stops working. Now it is very loud and ice maker is not working. Definitely is not worth the Xtra money it costs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Should last longer than 5 years for this price.

Started shutting off with a clicking sound about a year ago. Had to unplug (sometimes multiple times) to reset it. Now half the lights are out, the freezer is not freezing and it sounds like an airplane is ready to take off from the kitchen. Repair man said it would be cheaper to buy a new one. We bought all new appliances when we remodeled Dec of 2017. Fridge and microwave were both KitchenAid, microwave broke in 2020 and now the fridge. We spent more to get what we thought were higher end models. Definitely no more KitchenAid for us.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pretty but not the quality you expect

The water part leaks all the time and leaves film and water streaks. The plastic they put on it when first delivered can never really be removed in the seems. The freezer drawers broke off very easily and after a few years the chip board goes out. If you just want a pretty fridge this is it but they don't make them how they used to.

TERRIBLE QUALITY

I have had this refrigerator for 2.5 years and it has been nothing but a giant disappointment and waste of money. Currently, the refrigerator randomly comes off and on, and even when it is “on” it does not cool properly. The interior light doesn’t work. The water dispenser doesn’t work and leaks into the interior of the fridge as well on the left drawer. The ice maker hasn’t worked at all in months, and really has never worked properly. The freezer seems to be working now, but has frozen up twice necessitating shutting the entire unit off to defrost. Finally, there are times when the entire unit quits, even the drawers. Sometimes I can get it restarted by unplugging and replugging. My hardwood floors have paid the price for moving the fridge in and out. I have no confidence in any part of the refrigerator or freezer so I don’t keep anything in it except non-perishables (mostly drinks). My husband now has ALS and I can’t afford costly repairs that may or may not work, and I can’t afford to replace the unit. I regret buying this refrigerator.

5 Door Freestanding Refrigerator - Lots of issues

I see this refer is still in production and being sold. I've own the same unit for 5 years. have had many issues w/ the unit - Luckily I bought an extended warranty. had to have the ice maker replaced twice, there is a design flaw that solid wire is used going to and from the deli drawers (this wire breaks as the deli doors are opened and closed over time) and needed replacing. The Freezer coil ices up terribly over time - In my case this was due to both a control board issue and a thermo-fuse being bad on the coil fan assembly. All of these issues are written about on repair forums and they are all very, very commonly experienced by owners. KitchenAid must certainly review the performance of this product and its' break/fix problems - the big question is since this product is still being sold, is KitchenAid doing anything at all to improve their products especially the components that commonly fail?

Horrible product

This frig is lovely to look at if you want something pretty. But it does not work. The icemaker is broken all the time, the lights go out at random, the freezer thaws at random and no one seems to know what is wrong. Kitchenaid does not stand behind their products. For an expensive so called "high-end" brand, this is a joke. Stay away and save your money.
