Ridiculous Design…NOT A GOOD PRODUCT

I bought this microwave unit as part of a match ing set w new built in oven to replace our older KA set of same dimensions. The KA oven is great, but this new model microwave is such a disappointment. The inside light as so dim You cannot see what you’re cooking. We bought it right at a year ago, and the light went out, and it cannot be replaced without hiring a technician to come out and completely remove the microwave and the circuit board to access & replace the teeny, single, dim light. Even when the light was working, I literally have to shine a high power flashlight into the unit to see how my food is cooking. Unbelievably poor design. Additionally, 80% of the time, we have to shut the door several times before the microwave will start. Absolutely unacceptable for this brand and the price of this microwave. I would definitely NOT recommend this microwave unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Why no manual?

I recently replaced a Fisher and Paykel microwave because it was underpowerd and then it quit working entirely when I used the convection part. Sadley, I bought Kitchen Aid KMBP100ESS to replace it. I would NEVER imagined Kitch Aid would make a large built in microwave that is a 900 watt. Not only that but it did not come with a manual. I am 80. I cannot figure it out myself. I lookd for the tag on the inside where they usually are found. but no, it is on the UPPER RIM of the door opening. Usually, I just take a picture of the tag so it is handy. There is no way I could get a good photo of that tag. The serial number is not on my paperwork.

Does not perform as expected for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the stainless Kitchenaid Convection/microwave thinking it would have excellent features for the high price I paid. Instead, the stainless exterior is hard to keep smudge and fingerprint free. As for the interior, if there is the slightest spill or splatter and then you use Convection, the stain is almost permanently etched into the interior wall....very difficult to remove the stain. The Settings display does not Light up when you touch it, so I have to turn on the Kitchen light to see the settings and timers and numbers. I wish I could have used the microwave before purchasing. In this case, I probably would have chosen a less expensive Whirlpool or other microwave that is easy care and performs just as well. I would not recommend the Kitchenaid.

We like the microwave
