It will get you lost!

I bought this GPS so I could travel to the States without using mobile data. All the maps were updated and I thought I was set to go. I tried using it to navigate from Ottawa to Watertown which is a 2 hour drive. Thankfully, I had made the trip a couple times in the past so I realized that none of the roads I was on was making sense, so I double checked the map. It wanted me to go from Ottawa past Cornwall towards Montreal to use a border crossing there, which adds an extra FOUR HOURS to the trip. So I used my phone to get to the proper border crossing. It won't let you change the route to make it shorter, and it kept telling me to turn around the entire time until I was at the proper border crossing. I will be returning it.

Low cost basic name brand

Bought for my son. I bought Garmin because of the lifetime map updates plus I have found their maps are usually trustworthy & up to date. Good maps! Very basic unit though & does not support live traffic updates. Menus & search is relatively straight forward & easy to use. Voice directions do the job too. I have found that this is not always the case, finding anything but places to spend your money can be quite challenging on some GPS units. I have a very high end unit GPS built into my car & I gave up on using it because it is challenging to find anything besides restaurants, hotels & gas. This is despite the fact it has live traffic updates builtin. Never had that trouble with Garmin. In adition, the Tom-Tom maps built into my car do not seem to be as good as the Garmin ones.
