Best Recent Galaxy Phone
on April 22, 2016

My last two phones were the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, though my work has me work with other phones. After having the Galaxy S7, my general impressions are:
* The feel is the best I've felt in a Samsung phone-- probably because its glass and metal like some other high-end phones, rather than plastic.
* The size is better than the S5, but one-handed operations can sometimes be awkward (even with my big hands). There is a "one-handed" mode available with three presses of the home button, but its a bit inconvenient and wastes more screen than I'd like.
* Battery life is 'good', even with the always on screen (which I've grown to be a fan of). Somehow, I've been keeping this phone charged-- where historically my phones would've died at least a few times by now. I'm not sure if the always-on screen has helped me get it to the charger, or if the battery is simply that much better.
* Even with my big case, wireless charging works-- as does the NFC (that I used with a relatively low-power keyfob). Wireless charging is neat, but its a bit finnicky. At first I thought I the positioning needed to be specific, but there are times where the charging doesn't start, even after re-positioning, until removing/replacing the phone on the charger. There's enough of something going on that its an effort to ensure the phone is charging. Charging works reliably once started.
* Water-resistant is wonderful (the biggest downside of the S4). There's no flimsy USB flap like the S5 had, and the ports honestly look like they're more durable and will stand wear-and-tear better.
* The speaker and the headphone port have moved to the bottom of the phone. Overall, I'm neutral on both changes. Its easier to plug in both ports when they're on side, but it makes the volume button position a bit akward when in a pocket. The speaker sounds better than playing from the back and is positioned so that blocking doesn't really occur too easily, but its something that still happens.
* Samsung Pay seems promising, but sometimes is not not nearly as seamless as ideal. (e.g: Multiple attempts to get the card-reader to read the card). I'll continue to try using it, as it probably has some security benefits over just using a card. There's setting to allow activation without unlocking the phone just a PIN or a fingerprint, but I much prefer non-fingerprint unlock, followed by fingerprint payment verification. Card usage does not require any space on the home screen.
* I've never had a problem with the Galaxy screens. They've always looked great to me, and that includes the S7.
* The camera is the best Android camera I've used in a while. Its fast to use, pictures are clear, focusing works well. I know some may try to talk about megapixels-- but those megapixels are pretty useless when the camera is slow, fails to focus, or is otherwise buggy. In regards of actually taking pictures: the camera is excellent and more than enough for casual use (and even some photographic use). While my DSLRs and other cameras still have their place(s), I've integrated the phone camera into my lifestyle because of how *usable* it is.
Pros: Durable, sturdy, water resistant, screen, camera, quality ports, emergency contacts, always-on-screen
Cons: difficult-one-handed-operation, wireless charging finicky

Just switched phones

Switched from a HTC One M8. Galaxy 7 has features that the HTC didn't which are nice, but I do miss some of the features that the HTC had. Over all, satisfied with the Galaxy 7.

This product is great overall

This product is great overall. The features dont really differ much from the previous gen (Galaxy s6). The performance is excellent, the best out there so far. Yet it does has flaws such as design. As much samsung fans also including myself have seen in the Galaxy s6 is the glass. The glass on the s6 made the phone look more luxurious. Though its not bad for looks it is for grip. The glass is very slippery and can cause the phone to fall more easily out of one's hands. I believe the phone could have been better improvered from its previous predecesor. Though the price hasn't changed starting at $650, I believe it is worth it. That brings me over to its gorilla tech non scratch glass. If one is to pay such price, we expect for the spects to function as advertised. In my experience my phone got scratched from having it in my pocket with the head phones included with the phone. After going over all i experienced i do believe this phone is worth it and would recommend it to others.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight, 12 mega pixal dual quad camera, water resistance, processor
Cons: too much glass, same design as s6
I would recommend this to a friend!

I would give the S 7 5 stars all around, but it doesn't have the talk to text feature. The camera takes beautiful pictures and switching between applications is smooth. I love this phone !
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: no text to talk
I would recommend this to a friend!
