not waterproof

After testing this phone in water It was unsuccessful, water got into battery area and damaged battery, screen light no longer works, phone turns on but I can't see anything off of screen.
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When turned on, phone takes forever to launch. I don't care for the on-screen keyboard. Difficult to password protect.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations

A phone that doesn't mind water!

Now that I have had this phone and used it daily for 2 years I feel I am now qualified to review it. The Rugby Smart has lived up to it's description. I have dropped it onto concrete ( not intentionally ) and dunked the phone into water while kayaking more times than I can remember. With all of this my phone is still going strong with no damage what so ever. With that said I have found one annoying trait of the Rugby Smart. As many other owners have found the screen will refuse to come back on from the sleep mode no matter how many times you push the power button. For quite a while the only cure I found was to plug it into the charger and the screen would instantly come back on. I did however find another fix that has worked 95% of the time for this problem. If the screen fails to wake up when the power button is pushed, hold the volume up button down until the flashlight comes on and then try the power button again. This will wake up the screen nearly every time.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Bright display, Durable, water resistantcy
Cons: screen won't turn on problem
