Just the Best!

I have had this for a long time (proof of its quality) and use it more than once daily. It is fast and produces a rich and very hot coffee. i also have the other version with the clock and it performs just as well. I take it on trips as I prefer using it with my own ground coffee instead of usng the coffeemakers in hotel rooms. I will buy this one over and over again as long as Mr. Coffee continues to make them.

I had a Krups 4-cup drip coffeemaker that I loved. After almost 10 years, it started to leak in January 2014, but Krups no longer makes 4-cup coffeemakers. I bought the Mr. Coffee DR4. I hate it. Mr. Coffee "cups" are smaller than Krups "cups." The neck of the Mr. Coffee carafe is much smaller than the body. You have to turn the carafe completely upside down to pour out the water or coffee. Therefore, very awkward pouring water in. Pouring hot coffee out, I have burned my hand from escaping steam when turning the carafe completely upside down to get all the coffee. I hate this coffee maker. It was so poorly designed, I can't believe you are selling it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only reason I did not rate this coffee maker excellent is that it is so difficult to find the 4 cup paper filters for it.

Poor design

This coffee pot was meant to be cheap and easy. Unfortunately it is and it isn't a good value.
This coffee pot could benefit from a conical filter, sturdier top cover and an adjustable temp heat-plate or at the very least slightly cooler heat-plate.
My biggest gripe is the heat-plate, it is so hot that my coffee tastes burnt if I leave it in the carafe for more than 5 minutes. I don't think the heat plate even has a timer or anything. I bought the mr. coffee product because I had a 5 cup mr. coffee pot that lasted years but had a broken top cover and now I'm wishing I never threw that pot out.
