Disappointed

First off, initially I loved this grinder. I bought it in black. Compact, good grip band on the grounds container and a bonus that unlike other machines this one has a glass grounds container. I normally use a French Press although with company I switch out to my drip machine and hence a finer ground. In the beginning, I was so pleased with this machine! But I've had it for a few months now and I must say I am very disappointed. The timing selector does not function properly. To get two cups for a French Press I now have to set it on 20 twice and sometimes a third time to get enough grounds for my measly 2 cups of coffee. The grind selector is finicky, sometimes giving me too fine a grind for the French press, resulting in sludge at the bottom of my cup. The machine has definitely gotten louder and although it has been cleaned regularly, the burrs look like I've been grinding metal, not coffee beans. I think if you live alone, never make changes to your timer or grind selector, you may have better luck so I would recommend with reservations.

AVOID if you like coffee

I have been making coffee using a coffee press and whole bean coffee for over 10 years. I had been using a Braun burr grinder and regular Starbucks beans until I moved and had to leave the Braun behind.
I was given a Bodum Bistro as a gift for Christmas. After two months of being consistently robbed and deprived of my coffee enjoyment, I finally threw the Bodum out today. I didn't give it, recycle it, or even scrap it. I fed it down the trash tube so that the resources and labor that went into making it can never be recovered to taint another commodity.
The machine somehow destroys coffee beans' ability to turn into coffee. The "coffee press" setting on the device is a lie: it just chops beans in 2 or 3. In any setting, the machine crushes the beans, causing flakes, rather than actually cutting and grinding them. You have go down to near "medium" where the grind becomes acceptable for a press. The problem is, at that level of grind, the extraction is okay, but the body of the drink is closer to caffeinated water. If you want a fuller body, the drink becomes so bitter that it even smells wrong.
Save yourself the trouble. Don't buy this for yourself. Don't buy it as a gift. Don't pick it up if you see it by the side of the road.

Excellent grinder - does the job well

This is the second one of these grinders I've had. The burrs in my first one finally wore down after ten years of steady use. It still works, but the burrs are now dull enough that they won't take in the beans when set for an espresso grind.
The only negative about the grinder is that the burrs are not sharpenable. But for the price of a grinder in which you can remove and sharpen the burrs, you could buy three or four of these. So I don't really see it as a negative, just the consequence of not spending $400-$500.
I like the receptacle for the ground coffee; it is removeable, has a lid, and can be stored on your counter beside the espresso machine. It's glass, and not a cheap, ugly plastic bin. It looks nice and it's practical.
The grind is simple and quick to adjust in a half second, and has infinite adjustment. The hopper is huge; you can do many cups' worth at a time. It's quick and foolproof. Press the button, and you have ground coffee. No instructions and no fuss needed.
It's also nice and compact, well-made and stylish enough for the likes of me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

decent grinder, but not for espresso

If you would like an economic burr grinder for your coffee other than espresso, this may work for you. It is decent designed and the receptor of ground coffee was designed with great consideration of keeping things clean and easy to pour into your coffee maker - even it is a portafilter. The review was based on my need for espresso.
