Pinch point when opening. Don’t make the mistake of leaving a finger back there when opening. This safe will remove your skin by the plenty. Safe seems weak in the rear attachment points. I think a screwdriver will open it easily. Thankfully I just need this thing to keep a few documents safe in case of fire. I think if I was storing money or anything other than travel documents I would be upset about how easily it is to break open.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Solid and constructed very well other than the flimsy little plastic handle. Handle does not seem adequate for this rather heavy fire chest! Not as much room as you would expect to see inside as big as the chest is from the outside. I’m sure that’s because of the construction required to give it its fire rating.

The plastic housing around the handle/lock assembly could be sturdier; maybe injection molded like the rest of the unit. It looks like the black latch pin is plastic, if so it should be metal. The latch hook could be more robust. The spaces around the latch hook should be filled with flexiable caulking to prevent the insulation from falling out.

Entry level. Don’t count on fire proof capabilitie

In general a good starting fire proof box. Not very fire proof as it is entry level. Recommend putting it in a steel filling cabinet to increase fire proof protection
