White flakes and powder, confusing documentation

When I opened the new box, I found white flakes in the storage area and powder on the inside lid. Removed most but they keep coming from somewhere. I also saw 4 depressions as shown in the photo. No idea what they are and nothing in the documentation. Also the documentation mentions it should be stored "with the feed down." There are no feet anywhere on the box. Very confusing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the safe, its portable, strong-sturdy. I believe that while traveling and wanting to keep my things safe, this was an excellent choice. However, the safe is heavier than I anticipated, I would have also wanted this model to be able to have a keyless (Combination) additional locking feature. Overall, an good product.
