Great looking, but doesn't clean well

My first Whirlpool dishwasher was 13 years old when it was replaced during a kitchen remodel. It never required a service call. My 2nd Whirlpool was 19 years old when the front panel separated from the door, so it was difficult to turn the dial and the detergent cup wouldn't open. This dishwasher also never needed to be serviced. Both models provided outstanding results cleaning the dishes. When I replaced it, I didn't even consider another brand with the great history I had with Whirlpool. This model has been in use for less than 7 weeks and I think I've only had 2 or 3 loads with everyhing has coming clean. The sliding tines on the front of the bottom rack seemed like a great idea, but the right and left sides seem to "fight" with each other. If the dinner plates are racked next to each other, one side will try to slide to the other side. The result is if the top of one dinner plate touches the bottom of the next plate, it will not get clean. Additionally, a spoon that has been used for yogurt will come out with the yogurt baked on. I have to put the spoon in water for a couple of minutes and rewash it.I understand that the energy and water consumption standards were changed in January, and that all dishwashers would take longer to run, but I never expected this diswasher to require pre-washing. I used Cascade in the past, but switched to Finish since it was recomended by Whirlpool. I did see an improvement in brighening white coffee mugs, but not in anything else.I typically wash a load every other day, so it's not like the dishes are sitting for a week between washes.

This is a secondary dishwasher. It is fine for entertaining to use for over run situations in another room. I am more use to a stainless interior that is quieter.

Not easy to load

The tray for utensils is awkward. There are slotted covers to the tray and the slots are too small for the handles of my utensils - forks, kmives, spoons, etc. When I removed the slotted covers from the trays, the silverware tended to fall into the well of the dishwasheritself. Plus both the upper and lower trays are not designed for efficient loading of dishes. A last complaint is that the inside color is too dark for easy viewing, especially for people with vision problems.

From day one, the START/RESUME button does not function correctly requiring two , sometimes three urgings before the machine will start, Seems like a minor problem, but who do I get to fix it?

This dishwasher met my expectations for a quality product. Attractive, easy to use, quiet, sturdy, and energy efficient. You can't wash dishes in the sink with the small amount of water used by this machine! Truly a wonder of innovation!

Silver ware holder-cut-out openings are too small to accept many types of knives, forks & spoons that are broader and wider at the handle end.Manual needs improvements on start/run process. I ran it twice without doing any drying before I realized you program the settings before you close the door.

The capacity is more than our old dishwasher and the noise level is much less. The delay feature and the options are great. We definitely recommend this to anyone .
