Was disappointed

I purchased this refrigerator in April of 2012. The clean steel look is great, effortless to keep clean and holds magnets. My old Hotpoint, which I had for 24 years, had the same outer dimensions but was far roomier inside. This GE has shelves that are 17" wide and 16.5" deep with raised plastic 1" trim on each side, 2" wide front plastic trim and 1.5" trim in the back. This takes up valuable space. If an item sits at all on the trim in the front, it slides out of the unit when the door is opened. Items resting on the side trim tend to topple when items next to it are moved. The top shelf also loses additional space that is taken up by a large light bulb enclosure and a water filter. The two plastic bins at the bottom are amazingly tiny. This refrigerator is too small for a family. Next time I will know to measure the inside carefully! Also, although the digital temps read correctly, the interior and the contents always seems to be moist. I am not pleased with this model. I was told it may last about ten years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Quiet, Efficient, and Stylish

After reviewing several brands and models, I was able to narrow my choice down to this one for a number of reasons. First of all, it was basically the same dimensions as my 17-year-old GE side by side, which fit nicely under my 1952-vintage kitchen cabinetry. I was also impressed by the look of this model, as well as the through-the-door ice and water dispenser. The dispenser does what it should, and I've not experienced any problems whatsoever with the way in which it functions. The temperature display on the door panel, a significant factor in my model choice, measures closely enough (+/- 3 degrees) to my refrigerator/freezer thermometers to put my mind to rest that proper temperatures are being maintained consistently. Perhaps the biggest factor in my choice is how QUIET this baby is! The old one sounded like a jetliner on takeoff by comparison, and I've actually had to double-check from time to time to tell whether the new one's even running! According to the Energy Guide, this model is projected to use only about half the energy the old one did per year, which will save a considerable amount of money. I'd recommend this GE to anybody needing an efficient, good-looking replacement for whatever they're currently using!

Nice, but uncomfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nice refrigerator with some nice features (i.e. ice maker, water dispenser), but it has limited space for storing food, especially frozen items, as it is too narrow.

Too early to properly review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We just received this fridge today and therefore can't write a review about performance but I can say that we were limited on the height of the fridge we could get and this had the largest cubic feet for the height. We love the look.
