Big Disappointment - DOA, Bad Ink Cartridge
on February 11, 2012

Hooked it up and installed ink cartridges. Black ink cartridge not recognized. Seems like it is empty but not sure if printer is bad or ink cartridge. Unable to print without black ink cartridge being recognized. Extremely frustrated.

Big Bang for Small Bucks

Great Quality, Fast, Inexpensive. Most printers require a choice of only two of the above. With the Epson WP-4020 you get all three. My only complaint is its lack of a displayed page counter--but with everything else this workhorse has going for it, I can live with that.

Don't buy this unless you are a Techie

I bought for Airprint with an IPAD. There were no instructiuon manuals or CD. Had to download. Then this appears so complicated to set up, or way beyond the time I want to invest. Note that I worked in IT for more than 30 years.

All-in-One?? Just try to find how to scan or copy!

Greatly detailed User Guide for printing from computer or other devices. Not a word on how to copy or scan. The top doesn't lift, so it's not obvious how one accomplishes these tasks. And neither could their friendly support people, either online chat or phone. Online and phone support both answer pretty quickly - less quick on how to resolve your question, reading from their manuals - if it was in the manual, I wouldn't have had to call in the first place!! The good: Double-side is impressive, printing is very fast - once it gets the message from computer. Sometimes it needs a restart to decide to connect.

Setup was not easy

The printer itself was not bad to setup but connecting it to a Mac over a network was not easy. I finally had to connect direct by way of usb. Also another thing I bought the XL cartridges but when I put them in all the color cartridges were empty and the black cartridge only had half. So I had to install the regular cartridges that came with the printer. I am not sure this was a good purchase or not. I should know in a few days. For now I would not buy it again.

okay so I am looking to start a custom appearal business and have been looking deeply into materials. this machine is said to be able to print on sublimation transfer papper for heat press or iron on t-shirt designs. if that is so then i would like to know if it is compadible with sublimation ink. and if so how i go about installing the ink.

WorkForce is a Workhorse

We needed a reliable printer with multiple paper feeds for a 4 person professional office. Mainly an envelope and backup printer. This one is solid and reliable. Setup was easy in an all Mac environment and it has done exactly what we wanted. All we wanted it to do is print and it does that very well. Only negative is that it isn't very user serviceable for repairs. But at the good price, it isn't hard to replace. One of the few printer-only options on the market. We use it all the time to print from IOS devices too. Liked it so much I bought one for my home office.
