Great and versatile ceiling fan

I purchased three of these units to install in our upstairs bedrooms because the bedrooms did not have any overhead lighting. I had prior experience purchasing and installing Hunter brand ceiling fans, and I was impressed with the design, installation and quality of those units. Thus, the brand loyalty drove me to purchase these Astoria units. Installation was straightforward because I had prepped the rooms by installing a ceiling fan rated box on a wood stud crossbar that I had cut and mounted between the ceiling joists. But, the fans should install on any ceiling fan rated box. For this install, I wired each Astoria fan to a single wall switch, because I paired each fan unit with the Hunter remote control (99122) that mounts to the wall plate. I used 14/3 conductor wire for each unit just in case I should decide later on to separate the fan and light functions into separate wall switches. Overall, I like the look and feel of these Astoria fans because they have reversible fan blades, and the fan housing and light globe colors can fit with a wide variety of room decors.

Thank you to Hunter Fans! The light fixture on an older Hunter Fan stopped working. They were unable to pro ide a new fixture because of the age of the fan. They sent a discount code for the purchase of a new fan. The new fan arrived in a timely manner and looks great in the spare bedroom.

very quiet on high speed. No motor noise

Replaced existing fan so mounting was similar. Took 45 min to remove old unit and 3 hrs to install new unit [this is compounded by being 78 years old and working overhead]. Biggest problem is installing blade arms on motor armature (this is typical of these models of fans). Once installed unit worked great. Very impressed with how quiet it is. Hunter does honor lifetime motor guarantee as I was replacing a unit that had been installed 6 years ago and had a motor failure. In less than a week I received the replacement unit that Hunter sent. Good Company that stands behind their product>
