Love the mixer but bowl has large lip chip

I purchased my mixer dreaming of making cookies for the rest of my life with this beautiful mixer. But I was attempting to adjust the bowl and a huge piece broke off the lip. I attempted to replace with a six quart metal bowl from kitchenaide but it really does not fit properly. After reading all the comments here, I am not alone. There really needs to be a replacement bowl for this series or should a glass bowl never been associated with this professional series unit. Kitchenaide please help here.

Great, but...

This has been my primary mixer for years and I have only had glowing things to say. So easy to use, it is truly one of my most treasured kitchen appliances (and I’m a homeschooling mom of 4 - eating is 80% of what we do!). As others have experienced, my bowl recently chipped and can no longer be used. KitchenAid: how can you possibly sell this device without making suitable replacement parts available at a reasonable price?! Do the right thing and allow your customers to get what they need.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Flawed Glass Bowl Design - Great Mixer though

I had this mixer for all of a few months when the bowl cracked, all the way down. I’ve been trying to find the bowl available and in stock when I have the $$$ to throw at it. It’s super pricey and I can’t find a metal option as a replacement. I would rather not have another glass one break as others have done. My nice mixer now is junk and I find myself not making certain recipes now because the thing is broken. I always hand washed it. Never put it in any excess heat or even cold. And I’m just a casual cook/baker so it wasn’t worn out. This is a bad design in the least. And to not offer a reasonable replacement is ridiculous. I wish I had known this happened before I made the investment in the mixer.

I’m frustrated

Well seems like I’m having the same trouble as everyone else. Having a kitchen aid mixer was one of my dreams that came true when my husband gifted me for our new kitchen. Last night the glass bowl chipped and it had little pieces of glass all over the place.
First, I thought this glass would be harder to brake. Second I thought it was tempered glass and wouldn’t turn into little pieces if it brakes.
I’m super disappointed and sad at the same time. I couldn’t find a replacement for the bowl and now I’ll have it sitting in the kitchen. It’s like my dream become into a nightmare.
I also had the problem that the tools would never reach the bottom of the bowl and surely it was what lead the bowl to brake because I need to do some tricks to make it work. Yesterday was my baby 8 months birthday and I was making some fresh whip cream for him when the incident happened. What a bad memory to give to a mom kitchen aid... I would not recommend this mixer to anyone. I’m super frustrated on this brand.

Disappointed with Glass Bowl

I bought my 6 quart stand mixer in December 2016 and used it for about a year and a half until the glass bowl got a small chip on the inside from the attachments hitting against the glass. Although it is a small chip, I could not risk using it any further in fear of possible other chips that might contaminate my food items. It has been sitting on my counter since then looking pretty since I could not use it. I bought a had mixer in the interim, but now I need a sturdy stand mixer again to accommodate my baking needs. I was hoping to find a comparable stainless steel bowl for the mixer but there is none available, and in researching bowls, saw that others were having similar problems with glass bowls! I agree with other customers in this thread in that Kitchenaid should offer replacement glass bowls or at least at a discount, as they are very expensive to replace, especially when the fault is not that of the customer. The performance of the mixer is excellent. However, the bowl is a disappointment.
