[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to replace my GE over the range microwave and looked at a lot of them before buying the Amana 'over the range with sensor cooking'. It is exactly what I wanted. Manufacturers seem to add stuff we don't need or want. This Amana has everything, it's really sharp looking, and performs perfectly. I just wish I could turn up the volume of the signal that the food is done. I like it so much that I'm thinking of replacing the one in my other house. It's a beauty!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love how quiet this microwave is while cooking, way better than the noisemaker we had before. The only problem I have is the tone that indicates the cooking time is over is also very quiet! There can't be any noise going on in the house I have to be standing fairly close to it to hear it go off.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a hard time finding anything wrong with this microwave. We have only had it for 2 or 3 weeks, so time might change my opinion, but so far I love it. The sensor cooking is wonderful, that has made micro cooking so much nicer, and the steamer...wow!! The last two micro's that we have had were both Whirlpool, and while I used to be a fan of their appliances not so much anymore. Both of these microwaves had parts of the door break, and have you ever looked at the price to replace a door! Geez by the time you paid for the door and someone to install it it would cost more than a new one. This new micro has a stainless steel door, and front, so thinking that should not happen. This micro has a bigger rotating platter than any I have ever had before. Loving it!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed this microwave with relative ease about 2 months ago. I did also use the filler kit as the previous microwave was 36" wide. They don't make those any more. This microwave works great, and looks good too! We like how quiet it is, the ease of use, the 4 speed fan, the grey inside (helps hide those messes), and the solid feel. Two thumbs up from this family!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to replace my microwave after a mere 7 years. Lots of new features made me think that might be a good thing. This Amana under cabinet is super quiet and has lots of presets that typical families use every day such as (reheat) dinner plate, popcorn, frozen entrees, steam veggies, and so on. The microwave has a sensing feature that fluctuates (I presume) heat based on it sensing the moisture in the heated item. I used the dinner plate option to reheat corned beef and it came out fantastic. My husband used the timer and his was drier.
Other helpful features include a timer, under cabinet light, turntable on/off, and add 30". This microwave has a lot more heft than my last microwave but only about 20 lbs more in actual weight. The microwave was fairly easy to install but it would be nice if manufacturers would help out homeowners by using a universal mounting template. The floor of our upper cupboard looks like Swiss cheese!
Overall, I am very pleased with the new microwave. I am in the market for a new fridge and will definitely be looking at an Amana.
We had to wait better than two weeks before the dealer received this microwave (which we enjoy quite a bit). Two weeks without a microwave can seem like an eternity! Two negatives: 1 - the interior is a bit dark (light gray as opposed to white), making it somewhat hard to observe the cooking process. 2 - Upon opening the shipping box, the front of the microwave oven had a significant cosmetic blemish (a slight dent of 1 1/2" length), but, after waiting as long as we had to receive the oven, we weren't about to file a complaint and have to wait another several weeks for a resolution.
Love my new Amana microwave. Fits my space perfectly and has many great features. The one I use most is "defrost." If you program it with the correct weight it defrosts my frozen meats all the way through without cooking them on the edges.
