Acceptable dishwasher with unexpected shortcomings

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to get this new dishwasher and bought it based on the controls being on top (I was always accidentally hitting controls on my old washer) and on its ability to dole out the dishwashing liquid. I am still pleased with those features. I was also pleasantly surprised at how quite the dishwasher is.
I am constantly frustrated by the racks themselves and actually struggle with certain pieces. My prior dishwasher was so much better designed with respect to the rack layouts and tines with respect to bowls. This is an ongoing frustration.

I don't think the washer actually washes my dishes as well as the old model and I find that it is necessary to prescrub and rinse the dishes before loading.
Finally I am not happy about the way that top rack doesn't fully extend and the reason I am here on the site today is to see if perhaps that is actually a problem that can be fixed under warranty.
I can live with this dishwasher but I wouldn't recommend it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
