The mixing headphone you need

I have been using the ATH-M70x for over a year and thought they were one of the flattest excellent sounding headphones I had ever used. Until I received the R70x.
Warning - you really need a headphone pre amp to make these really light up. In my case I have them plugged into a Roland TD-50x module and that steps them up to be as loud as I could possibly need. Straight out of my iMac or Focusite Scarlett it gets only "medium" loud.

Hands down the flattest most even sounding phones I have tested. Just beautiful sounding.
I used a re-mastered hi def version of Behind Blue Eyes , the clear definition of the vocals, tightness and forwardness of the bass and being able to hear the acoustic guitar behind it all was OUTSTANDING! Then moved to Paula Cole's , Tiger ... which has some truly low low bass notes and Tony Levin on bass. It was so clean and tight. There was NO high end spikes or sharpness at all.

Then I cross compared to the M70x , which is a wonderful headphone. It was a totally different experience with noted mid frequency bumps and the low end not as tight and clean .
The headband is also very very light and comfortable on the R70.
If you are mixing and recording , these are the way to go .
