Really good cook top

The builder selected this cooktop so I did not have a choice in brand and feature. Nonetheless, I really like the cooktop (I would give it 4.5 stars). It is easy to clean. The burners turn on easily. The appearance is sleek and the 5 burners make it seem luxurious. The grill is sturdy and there are soft/rubbery bumpers to keep the grill in place and prevent it from scratching the surface of cooktop. The reason I gave this 4.5 stars and not 5 is because I wish the knobs were a bit further apart from each other. I clean my cooktop after each use and to clean the surface between the knobs gets tricky. When cleaning in between, my sponge will slightly move the other knobs, turning the burner on which could have burned my hand. I'm more careful now when I clean but if I had suggestion for GE on this cooktop, it would be to increase the space between each knob slightly.

Great Cooktop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love the cooktop. It provides plenty of space for different size pots and the gas flow is very even, also in the simmer position. The only thing is that you have to be careful not to scratch it up, but that is the case with any stainless steel.

Love my new cooktop!!!

I purchased this 2 months ago to replace a GE glass gas cooktop. This new model is great! Large burners and SO EASY TO CLEAN!!!! Compared to my last one that I always had to shine shine shine, this one wipes clean very easily and shines all by itself. Wish I had replaced my old one years ago. Do not hesitate to buy this one if you are considering a gas cooktop! I LOVE IT!!!

Solid performance

We have had the stovetop for about 6 months. It has a large spill area under the burners, much larger than the last generation. The continuous grate is very useful. The burners adjust well. We got the stainless steel version and it is hard to see the flame or judge its size. A burner pilot light would be helpful as I have left burners on sine it's hard to see the flame. The metal knobs are a big improvement. We washed the grates in the dishwasher-very nice.
Overall this is a very cost effective appliance.

Expected better for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lowest settings on all but the simmer eye still boil or burn anything you may have on the stove. Wish these could be set lower. Also you really have to be careful with the size of pots/pans you put on the eyes as the handles can get so hot they will burn your fingers. As mentioned in another comment the stainless steel surface scratches very easily so use only the recommended cleaner and you'll be alright. Lastly, the simmer eye started giving us a problem after the first year (top is 19 months old). When we try to turn the eye off, the igniter keeps on sparking and we have to jiggle the knob in order to make it stop.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Extremely easy to scratch or mark

We have had this appliance for 6 weeks. Looks great and cooks extremely well. Unfortunately I can not understand what all the hoopla is about stainless steel- Would "NEVER" buy another ss cooktop again. Had the cooktop one week and it had to be replaced due to a tiny scratch which would not come off. I don't know if it was on it when delivered and installed or if we did it, but GE was gracious enough to replace it. You "MUST" be extremely careful when removing or replacing a grate as it will scratch the ss with the slightest touch. Also if any food should splatter on the ss make sure you remove it at once or you may never get it off and even then you need to be extremely careful not to scratch the ss. Also we were told by a GE serviceman to "ONLY" use mild soap and water when cleaning around the knobs as the numbers are painted on and if using anything stronger, (like ss cleaner) the numbers can come off within a very short period of time.Prior to this we had a GE profile glass top for approximately10 years and we found it to be quite a chore to clean, unfortunately now we wish we had it back..

Nothing but problems

I purchased a dishwasher, oven, microwave and warming drawer less than 2 years ago. I have had the mother board replaced 3 times on the oven and the motor has died on the dishwasher. I am convinced the microwave works only because I use it about 2x a week for my sons morning oatmeal, that is it. I am so disappointed in my purchases.
