Bought this to rip my old family home movies from DVD to MP4s to stream. It was able to read some scratched DVDs perfectly, which my old external DVD drive kept getting read errors. Good value. recommend.

Beat USB dvd drive

Tried a few of the cheap no name ones and they were awful. This one has a swappable cable and worked better. Read some tough old discs I burned years ago. A bit pricey but real OEM USB readers are getting kind of uncommon now.

Dell 8X external CD DVD

I bought this for playing my CD games. I tried everything to get it to work. It didn't say gaming External CD DVD. I don't have any online banking to buy online for a Toshiba gaming External CD drive

This is still the original 2014 design. It does not use USB-C nor USB Micro for the end that goes into the unit. I thought by law, it had to be USB-C now. I have it hooked up to Windows 11, which makes the included Media Suite 12 useless as Windows 11 doesn't recognize it. (It froze my file explorer and had to reboot so don't recommend trying to install it on Windows 11.
However, it works great as a CD recorder. I use Windows media to "burn to disc" and works great. And that is what I wanted it for. It will play CD's excluding the ones that have it blocked (BEC label will NOT play on this unit, most other ones will) It will play DVD's but not Blu Ray or 4K.
Still better that the other brand I just returned which simply would not do anything when hooked up to Windows 11

Drive works as advertised. It was instantly picked up by my computer. I like its ease of use and the portability. The USB cable could be a little longer but a minor criticism.
