Water is reacting with lid causing oxidation around edge of lid. Lid material is not full stainless steel material or chrome plated.

Adequate for tea for two, this is a tiny kettle

Not clear from specs, but this kettle is barely enough for two mugs… and there is no external water gauge meaning you have to open and check every time you put it to boil, and the internal “max fill” gauge is difficult to see. This would lead to a risk of boiling dry, and/or steam burns if you have to refill the kettle shortly after use. Like other users have noticed scale developing really quickly I generally love my KitchenAid products, but this one is disappointing in design and function. Pic included next to the standard “Ikea” tumbler for scale
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is one piece of an equipment that makes your kitchen shine. A cut above the rest. I was very considerate about the price of the kettle as compared to other local or international brands. But being a chef myself and have being using KITCHENAID since a long now I opted for the brand. It sits in very well with my cream marble top and gives me a feeling of ultimate pleasure to use and look at it.

We purchased this kettle to replace one of another well known brand as the plastic parts of the lid hinge broke. Thte KitchendAid product in contrast feels very well made, has a removable lid which we prefer and an internal water guage which makes it easier to judge how much water you have added when filling. The handle remains cool at all times and the kettle is reasoanbly quiet. The 1.25L capacity is perfect for just the two of us.

I purchased the Artisan kettle to compliment my Artisan 4 slice toaster. I feel the size of this kettle is disproportionate to the toaster & it looks too small to be considered a matching kettle to the toaster, which is quite large. I can not fault the performance, comfort of the design when using or the finish of the kettle. There was another kettle within the range which is larger but was a matte finish and did not compliment either the toaster of other items in my kitchen.
