Works well. Has got the cap feature which hides the wires from view. Some customers facing installing issues. Just push the screw with a little bit of force and will come out along with its cap from the back side of the protector. Now go to the wall outlet and there will be another screw that u need to unscrew. Push the surge protector inside the outlet and then push the screw inside that came with the surge protector from back side. Put the cap on. It works like a charm !!

Install instructions not included

Just installed product and it seems to be working fine. Almost returned it because installation instructions were not provided. Had to go to website to find them. After installation have found that removal will involve breaking the plastic anchor piece on the back of the unit because it appears to be latched into the socket. This also means that the socket will likely have to be replaced as well if I ever have to remove the unit from the current location. In the future if I need another socket installed surge protector I will likely purchase another product.
Cons: no installation instructions with product, difficult to remove once installed

No where was there instructions about removing the disc to access the mounting screw. Once I "googled" it I found that someone else had solved this mystery. Luckily I didn't damage the unit trying to get it apart.
Pros: good value.
Cons: vague instructions

Very Poor Design

I recently bought this product from a local retailer because it seemed like a very cheap but useful surge protector. I have a great luck with other Philips products in the past. Imagine my surprise when I went to plug the surge protector in today and realized that there's a screw sticking out the back designed to secure the surge protector to the wall via the wall socket screw (usually holds the outlet face plate in place). Well it is a smart idea to have one on this product the only problem is there is no way of actually accessing the head of the screw to secure it to the wall. So all I'm left with is a screw that sticks out of the product that prevents me from actually plugging the product into the wall. I looked through the accompanying manual which just appears to be a generic leaflet for philips surge protectors and I have looked online for a solution with no luck. I will be returning this item ASAP to my local retailer. A very obvious design issue that should have been addressed before ever being placed into production.

And then shopped for various other surge sizes from Philips, too. I had no problem placing in my house, screw and all. I think even if I had an issue with it, I could have easily found the right size for pennies if the one supplied had not fit? Re: prior review. Maybe having an vintage house and outlets makes a bit of difference on sizing, not sure. But I like the product, have found it to last, and it even helped me determine improper grounding via some outlets with the RED/GREEN light indicators. Happy camper.
Cons: lengthwise would be good 4 old homes w/wall detail

THIS WAS BOUGHT LOCALLY. A SCREW EXTENDS OUT THE SIDE THAT CONNECTS TO THE HOUSE OUTLETS. THE HEAD TO THIS SCREW IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO FASTEN TO THE HOUSE OUTLET. YET ANOTHER PHILLIPS PRODUCT I WILL NEED TO RETURN AGAIN TODAY THAT PHILLIPS (AND THE RETAILER) QUALITY PEOPLE MISSED. WHEN I WANTED TO REGISTER THE PRODUCT PHILLIPS WANTS ME TO HAVE A PASSWORD (& MOST LIKELY WILL WANT TO ASK A TON OF PERSONAL QUESTIONS. NOT VERY SENSIBLE POLICY FOR LOW COST PRODUCTS.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Liked that it was a surge protector with 6 sideways 3 prog outlets which I needed for a tight wall location. Nice that it also has clear LED indicators of power/protection status. As others have mentioned, it came with clearly wrong instructions and no info on how to remove central long metal screw for old style wall plates. Just gently push screw back thru front rubber cover to remove. Mounted fine without screw. Also plastic pin for lower outlet doesn't match some newer dual outlet receptacles.
Pros: 6 sideways 3 prong outlets, led staus indicators
