the ink cartridges for this printer (C6350) lose ink by leakage or evaporation and have to be replaced even when the printer is not being used.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have 3 HP printers and got this Photosmart D5460 to keep it close to my desk for printing invoices and receipts, but I'm really disappointed with the short lifespan these 564 ink cartridges have.
My network printer (Photosmart C6150) uses 02 ink cartridges and I get a much longer lifespan out of those.
Then I have my little Photosmart 335 photo printer with one little tricolor 97 cartridge outlasting the 5 separate 564 ink cartridges, which really bugs me.
I tried the 564XL and they are OK but cost so much more. I'm just not impressed with this predicament at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

High quality ink yields excellent prints. Great value when comparing number of print per cartridge to other cartridge options.

Great Product, poor marketing

I bought a few ink cartridges when convinced I should "stock up" at good prices. However, the expiration date problem was not explained and I lost a cartridge when I tried to use it only one month beyond the date on the package. My printer said it was " not current" or something like that. Very disappointing.
I would recommend this to a friend!
