A soft hum when plugged into AC, seems to be endemic with DPI portable CD players. Using Bose QC2, if I set its switch to "Hi," definitely getting electrical noise from the unit. When playing music, at least not at low-volume, the hum is not at all noticeable. It works, plays CDs, just seems to have poor electrical isolation inside.
Does seem to play scratched up CDs well, although there is scuffing-like noise when the ESP keeps trying and failing to buffer, on account of the CD being scratched.
This unit is sold by multiple brands; probably a standard ODM product with cheap components licenced to multiple brands and companies, with little to no modifications among each brand's version.
There are multiple "PC301B" versions, this being version 1806, judging by its appearance; no actual indication on unit itself.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
